Here's the old cap. No markings on it other than the sticker which is awful clean, so I doubt that it's original.

Now for the new stuff:
BWD rotor #D236 , proudly made in Mexico
I know, I know, there aren't any brass contacts on the new parts. there not stocked here, nor could the counter jockey guarantee that there would be brass in the units if I ordered something different. I've never had an issue w/ using BWD before, so I was perfectly happy buying it again.

If you noticed, the old & new rotor's look like about 95% the exact same design, the tab end has a nice finished end & not clipped off like some.

Took a silver permanent marker & highlighted the firing order on the cap to make it easier to see from a distance.

The new plugs, wires, cap & rotor didn't make the Burban run any better. They were obviously needed, they just didn't solve the problem. I always do a tune up on everything I buy unless the po can prove when it was last done. It's just peace of mind.

Usually when one drops a screw, one gets upset. Nope, not me, I had spares for the cap, so not a big deal. So after I climbed down from laying on top of the engine, I went & got the magnet. I dislike leaving loose stuff like that, you find it later & you go crazy trying to figure out where it belongs. This happened to be a blessing in disguise. After I fished out the screw, I saw what looked like the eyelet end of a ground wire just sitting there on the intake. I looked around a bit, felt along the harnesses & didn't feel any broken wires. Nothing looked like it had a replacement end on it. So I have no clue where it belongs. While feeling around, I did find a disconnected ground strap that was bolted to the top of the frame by the starter. I am assuming that it goes to the block. So this Sat, I'll stop @ the j/y to get a proper bolt for it reattach it.

I highly doubt that reconnecting the ground strap will fix the p0300 code, but you never know. Maybe i touched it & didn't realize it & now it's not making contact. We'll see this weekend. But @ least it's another problem that will be fixed.

As you can see in the lower left of the pic, there's the eyelet hiding amongst the acorn crap.

I gotta get the shop vac out here & blow this crap out.

Went to the j/y to do some shopping. Got a pair of speaker harness adapters (speakers were damaged) & ground strap stud.

Also needed a vacuum line for the rear air control. Only 1 suv there & the line was broken.

Put the harness adapters in the glovebox for safe keeping for later.

Installed the stud on the head, reattached the 2 grounds to it & then the nut.

2 problem spots fixed.

Cleared the codes.

Restarted the burban, still rough running, code came back w/in a min.

Ugh, this getting old

It was suggested that I block off the broken Vacuum hard line & see if that helps. I'm gonna try that tomorrow if I strike out @ the j/y

So I went to the j/y on Sunday, got a decent knick-knack haul. I got a replacement hard vacuum line, 2 actually (1's a spare). Installed that & then replaced a couple of crappy plug wire clips.

All of the misc. knick-knacks in the 1st & 3rd pics were installed on Sunday.

spare headlight switch for doing the Express knob mod.
maybe I can fix the rear window switch that some tool damaged, so that I can have matching wood grain switches front to rear.

tool box & under hood light will be up for sale as soon as I test the light & clean them up.

I already put a box in the burban & have a light waiting to be installed.
