Guys, how or where can I get my pcm reprogrammed to reflect the 3.42 gear I have installed? It was 4.10 and I want the abs and cruise to work right. Black Bear wants $250 for this; it can't be that hard. My truck is a 97 K3500.

Thanks!!

It's not that it's hard, it's finding someone with the correct software to do it. The Black Bear tune will also make the truck drive much nicer and you'll get free alterations for life if you ever decide to change anything else. Personally I would spend the money and just have Black Bear do it. I've been very happy working with them with my red truck over the years.

I will also second Blackbear. I probably have 20+ emails going back and fourth between Justin and I. He did my initial tune after the engine for 89 octane. I then swapped the gears and decided that I wanted the 91+ tune (WOULD RECOMMEND). He hooked me up. I also had a few drive ability and mechanical issues that he helped me with. About the ONLY negative thing that I can say about BB is that sometimes it takes them a few days to respond. I am a patient person, and can overlook this, especially since I know that they stay really busy.

Like said, a tune from someone is really the only way, but its worth it for the other benefits. I'm a little more curious about why you swapped to 3.42 gears in a K3500?

I reprogrammed my '98 when I went from 3.42's to 3.73's with a HyperTech programmer.
If you know someone that has one, you can borrow it to reset your's. Has to be zero'd out from the original truck it's programmed to before you can use it on your's.

I'm installing a Detroit Diesel 6V53 and it only runs 3000 rpm. I'm using a ZF 650 with an overdrive, so with stock size tires I'll still get 100 mph, if need be.
