The motor is now blue. Just need to track down a set of valve covers that I like. I am considering something in this direction: https://www.ebay.com

Roll bar with mounting tabs for 5pt harnesses. Just enough space for the headliner.

Yeah, it's ugly.

Some rust repair. The front portions of the rockers were a bit soft, so it all got cut out in favor of new metal.

Floor patches going in. I think this is what's called doing the right thing the wrong way.:waytogo:

Test fit the trans. Looks pretty sweet.

The subframe connectors make for a really convenient jack point.

Accessories on. Took a trip to the junkyard for some goodies. Pulled a few of those fuel line quick disconnects off some European cars, braided plastic sleeve to put over fuel lines, weatherpack connectors, and radiator bushings.

Made a strut tower brace. Barely fits around a 14" air filter.

Modified a set of clamps off a gmt400 to accept the smaller S10 radiator bushings I found and bolt up nice to my core support.

Little bit of progress. I have been fixing the rusted out seams in the rear wheel wells, as well as a few other dinky things.

Founders strut mounts to replace the stock rubber deals.

Put in a kill switch for the battery.

These little clips for the brake lines have been my nemesis ever since I put on my CPP calipers. I am losing to these little ******** like a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest. I just cannot get them on.

Got part of the tank cleaned off, but despite almost half a day spent on this, still not done. I suppose because I have the attention span of a knat, every time my compressor ran out of air I went to go tinker with something else.

Trans is in permanently now. Just needs a good leather shift boot and bezel.

Hopefully I can get this car driving soon, one of the cab mounts on my truck cracked like an egg a few weeks back, and I can't fix it until the bird can move under it's own power. Always something to work on.

Put some stuff together. A buddy helped me bleed the brakes and we thrashed the thing together the rest of the way just to take it for a christening spin.

The shop lamp air cleaner and open manifolds were the key to victory.

Made an exhaust. It's a 3 1/2" ebay magnaflow ripoff. I ordered a 2 3/4", but they sent me the wrong one. Fortunately, it worked great. It's a side exit under the driver rocker panel.

Got an AFR guage on and prettied up the exhaust manifolds. Ground off unnecessary metal, smoothed them and painted them.

A month ago, I took the car to a local cruise. Everyone met at a park beforehand and I took the opportunity to get my carb tuned a little better. Had it idling, yeah you see how this can go. Just as I am getting ready to wrap this up, a guy who's helping me yells fire. Turned out it wasn't smoke, it was steam. Cracked the tank of the radiator, the whole length of the seam was spraying water like a sprinkler. Oddly, it was at 160 and the cap didn't even vent. Fortunately the park was right on the water, so I filled the radiator with lake water and limed it home. I couldn't grab my truck what with the broken cab mount so I had to ride in a buddy's 57 Ford convertible.

Got an aluminum 3 row radiator replacement.

Here is the car as it sits. Got the body panels on, but nothing fits all that well as of yet.

Worked on the dash a little, made some aluminum plates to cover the former vent holes.

Made a radio pod.

I deleted cruise control, so I made a new turn signal stalk. I welded a length of threaded rod to the metal insert of broken factory stalk and put a chrome knob on the end. It is sleeved with a piece of polished aluminum tubing.

I am swapping in a set of seats out of a Subaru imprezza.
