Ok, I'm thinking of changing it up a little, I may go with a 3.75" crank and 400 rods. Make it a mild stroker with MPFI upgrade and get a custom tune on the pcm. I may be over thinking it. I really don't want to go with a new intake and carb setup. I have a line on a free crank so I only need the 400 rods. What thoughts do you have? Thanks.

Why limit yourself to a 5.565" rod? If you have to buy pistons anyway, why not just buy the correct compression height to use much more common 5.7" rods?

Thanks for the clarification. Stupid? Do you think the MPFI with stock injectors flow enough fuel to keep it from running too lean?

Ok. I'm backing off the stroker for now, I have another 350 motor that I may redo at a later date. I'm going with .30 flat top pistons, lt1 cam, comp 1.6 roller rockers, comp 787 retainers, elgin screw in studs, coyles roller chain, pcm tune and long tube headers and cat back exhaust.

I looked into doing the LS beehives and their installed height was .100" shorter than the Vortec. Even with .050" offset retainers your installed height will be off by .050". I didn't like this, so I kept my stock valve springs with my marine cam and 1.6s as this is what the ramjet came with anyway. Just biffed the valve stem seals down all the way and called it a day.
