Or there are the people with cars rotting on their property that despite being there for decades with no progress whatsoever, they refuse to sell them. "I'll get to it one of these days."

LoL yeah, it's always just a charge. Always simple. How about one of my favorites, "*** needs to be replaced, $40 part at autozone. Easy fix." Oh yeah? How come you haven't done it?? Nobody ever seems to put a value on labor. The shop I use charges $85/hr so that's my rate as well..

Or the guy that buys a "USED" engine or transmission and seller says it has a warranty !
That is nice, does your warranty include you coming and installing the next one ??

Haha yeah, those are good ones too. I like when they say they put a "new" engine/transmission in but don't have paperwork.. Like is it new to the vehicle you're selling or new as in brand new? Annd without paper work it's useless anyway, so no value added but try and tell them that...

A buddy of mine has a tranny shop. We just got done installing the 3rd wrecking yard tranny in a Honda Oddity, I mean Odyssey... the 1st was smoked, 2nd cracked that wasn't visible until it was running and the 3rd needed shift solenoids as well. The wrecking yard gave them a 30 day warranty that is now expired because of how long it's taken to get trannies. My buddy doesn't mind because he's been paid 3 times by the owner for R&R labor. It would've been cheaper for him to build them a tranny.

A wrecking yard, excuse me,a 'salvage' yard here has a sign that reads "Why buy new when used will do?'..There's the answer.

When I worked as a Honda mc mechanic all those years ago,I had a customer with a 79 750.He'd let it set up and the carbs needed cleaning;Honda's of that era had air cut diaphragms, kept the mixture rich on decel to prevent backfires.Well, they were shot, only available from Honda, and at that time (1985-86) were about $25 each, and he needed 4 of them.Well,THERE IS NO WAY I'M PAYING THAT! he said, and left to find a used set of carbs. He found some alright,I could smell the varnished fuel when he walked in.You guessed it,acd's were wasted, and he'd spent $100 on less than useless carbs.Lesson here, sometimes ya gotta bite the bullet and spend the money. At least that's what I learned from it.

When you start getting up there in age every minute counts, I don't have time to be doing things two or three times =) I use to love getting greasy, not my favorite past time anymore .
