My compressor came with no install instructions . My compressor came with a green washer seal thats thick then a red washer seal thats a little thinner . They install on the back of the compressor in recesses cut into the body . When you put them on the compressor they dont seal right because one is thicker than the other so the ac line coupling dogbone sits higher on one line and lower on the other and understandably leaks as soon as you try to charge the system ......... What am I doing wrong ??????

Tx for the reply ...I feel dumb here as I have never done an ac compressor replacement before....so I got this kit this am to me it looks like I need yellow and green and use NO aluminum inserts that came in the kit ? ...would you agree ? Once you crush them you supposedly can't reuse them is why I want to make sure I have it right the first time . Is there ever a case you don't use those aluminum inserts ? Sounds fishy . But that chart isn't calling out using inserts.

I think I am wrong the pilots sticking out the hoses / manifold block are not 5/8 long they are shorter than a half inch ?????? So the short aluminum insert would get stuck into the discharge port along with the green washer ?

Went with the parts circled in yellow in the kit and everything sealed up fine. New R4 compressor is noisy :( at idle...when you get some rpms in it -it immediately and totally quiets down - wth ?

From what I have read these R4 compressors can get noisy when the idle speed drops way down when the clutch engages . Many run an idle solenoid to bump the idle up and the compressors quiet down with the increase in that rpm . So I have ordered one. Mine stops making noise around 900 RPM ....FWIW.

I installed the carb ac idle solenoid today ....it bumps the idle up in gear up to 900 rpm when the compressor is turned on . Doing this makes the compressor quiet . Note the idle solenoid does not instantaneously bump the idle up. You must hit the throttle moving it, the solenoid plunger then sticks outward bumping the idle up until you shut the ac off .. ....FWIW

Sorry to hijack this thread but i am trying to get the dryer off my truck to get the a/c going again. Does anyone know the size of the bolts that hold the dryer and evap core together
