I am using a 200 amp SPST from Cole Hersey. I use a deep cycle auxiliary battery oto power some HF radio equipment directly off the auxiliary. I have wired to a switch in the cab so that after extended use i can charge the deep cycle off the alternator on the way home. I mounted a terminal inside the cab that then goes to all to RF equipment.

I'm using a 100 amp continuous duty relay. I have it wired to keyed power so it's closed during operation for charging, open with key off so I don't run both batteries down at the same time. I also have a push button in the cab to engage the relay from the aux battery in case the main battery is too dead to energize the relay for starting. A relay isn't necessary for duel batteries. I just found one on Amazon that fit my desired application.

I use this one, works great and it’s cheap enough that if it needed to be replaced it won’t hurt too much

This is what I have in the cab of my plow truck. Run both ground cables from the batteries to this and do a big 3 ground coming out of this switch.

ACDELCO 12135196 is what my 1999 came with from the factory.

Rockauto has em listed for about 32 bucks.

Hope that helps.

Z71Hobbs recently sold me a battery tray to replace my original and I am very satisfied.

I really appreciate all the feed back guys! Another question I have is should I do under the hood or relocate it some where else, the second battery that is.

Just get a Z71Hobbs drivers side tray and leave it under the hood.
