After doing my fuel pump, I have big leak when I get gas. It's coming from near the fuel filler hose, so it's either the hose developed a crack, or I blasted a hole in the tank with the pressure washer (its rusty there). I'm betting on the hose being fatigued and cracked. It looks like only one company has a hose specifically for the truck, and that's Spectra-Premium. I think the hose is almost straight. I'd feel a bit more comfortable with a hose from Gates... Rockauto has it by the foot, but there is a 3 foot minimum, or they'll sell 18" sections... I only need about 7"

Gates has smooth hose, and corrugated.

I also thought about buying a short filler neck, and using a longer piece of hose, since that might be easier to get into place, and my filler neck is pretty rusty...that could actually be where the hole is, for all I know.

What have you done?

Yes, I replaced the hose, but it didn't help. The tank must be rusted through at the connection. You don't have to remove the tank to replace the fuel filler. I did wedge myself into the space between the frame and box side, Though.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear about your tank. I've got a similar leak on the vent and fill hose on my 98. I figured I would replace the filler neck and hoses before I condemned the tank

Do you have any tips at getting to the hose clamps on the vent and fill hose? They both seem to be pointing up toward the bed

I used various 1/4" drive pieces, but I don't recall specifics. If I recall correctly it wasn't as hard as I thought, but I don't remember how my clamps were oriented.
