Yup! I had no idea your truck had headers; I was planning on going with the raw headers and coating them in header paint; or do you recommend I shell out the extra cash?
The Hedman Headers are technically for the 88-95 TBI trucks, but with the EGR deleted I can run them; a few other people have done it this way I believe.
That sucks about the rest of the exhaust, I heard the Gibsons lined with the stock downpipe.
Go for the coating. It'll be put on via electrolysis/dipping and it'll be tougher than anything we could put on in our back yard. Paint WILL eventually crack and chip. Ever try to break off powdercoating from something? Good coatings are hard to break off because it's "attached" on a molecular level... not just "glued" on like paint is.

The gibsons can be configured to not have an EGR connection, so you can clean up the engine bay. I left mine connected for the moment... just in case. Eventually I'll get rid of it. If you can't make a plate buy a ball bearing ball that's slightly larger in diameter than the ID of the EGR pipe fitting. Cut the pipe out so you have the fitting nut separate. Insert ball between nut and fitting then tighten.

Got question for those who might know; would TBI 454 headers work on my Vortec? I know the 350s interchange between TBI and Vortec, but I have no idea on the big blocks.

As far as the exhaust ports go? They should be the same, don't believe they changed over the different generations of 454s. Not sure about where the exhaust connects to the headers though, I think it's probably the same but that's just a guess.

Yeah, the exhaust setup was definitely different between the trucks. It wouldn't surprise me if they did hook up the same or if they didn't, but like Christian said they'll bolt up to the heads no problem.

Hmm...interesting.
JEGS advertises the Hedman shorty headers at fitting on 96 trucks as well as 95 and below; I guess either the Gibsons or Hedmans I'll need to do some chopping to my down pipes?

You should contact the mods. I recently made a thread to bring to their attention that the site kept telling me I was logged out and it was just some handshake thing between my browser and their site.

Seems a lot of sites lately are slamming me with cookies too. Could be something new out that that has a bug they're unaware of.

I had this same issue, and after updating my web browser (Chrome) it went away. If you're using it on your computer, check for updates. If it's on your phone, you'll probably just have to wait until the update is available from whatever app store you use.

Yeah, you'll probably have to modify your down pipes either way; at least I personally haven't seen a set of headers that are a straight bolt in replacement.

It's already been resolved. Shaggy did an update to ensure a HTTPS connection to the site but the old bookmarked links and some google results did not automatically redirect the user to HTTPS when they connected. Thus, you would not be logged in until you clicked a link from within the site... which would redirect you properly... and you'd be logged in.

But thanks.

@Mangonesailor, how big are the Magnaflow glasspacks on your truck? I started thinking about my exhaust, and instead of 3" true duals, I'll just do 3" to an H-pipe, Magnaflows, and then stick with my 2 1/2 inch tail pipes with 3" tips.

So my brakes have started to make unpleasant noises. And it researching replacing rotors and what not on GMT400 K2500s/K3500s, I've decided to do the NBS Knuckle swap. I'm thinking of going the same route @83GMCK2500 did on his 96 with the 99-00 2500 knuckles, Power Stop rotors, pads, and calipers, and then refreshing all the bushings and balljoints while it's apart.
