When you get a chance, and if you’re up for some reading, check out my thread. I just recently in the last thirty days, finished my truck in bedliner and spray paint. I think it turned out better than anything I’ve ever seen.

As for the rocker being pushed in, they sell replacement rocker panels for our trucks, and since they’re rusty, I would start there.

Seeing as your truck is a 96, and you have an older door, you can very easily swap the wrecked door window regulator assembly to the old door so everything plugs in like it should.

Agreed, not that ugly! Should be a fun truck and parts are still mighty plentiful.

See my user name? I've bought plenty of ugly stuff. Current one I paid several times it's value just because it was stick and "rust-free." Also found out I was lied to.

Thanks for sharing!

Starting to sound like my story. I bought mine for one reason, it was a 5 speed and the only one within a several hundred mile search area. The first thing I checked was the cab corners, and I didn’t care about the rest.

Yeah, that was my mistake. I bought mine online (at least put my non-refundable deposit down), traveled a long haul and found off-color paint lines and rust bubbles on the cab corners. Asked the seller and all he had to say is that he's "not an under-truck kind of guy." The underside was rattle can spray-bombed with black paint, including over the top of all the mud. Looks like someone went on a joyride the last time out.

Brought it home anyway. Guess I wanted it bad!

Nice! I love builds! I'm going through and this truck looks awesome! I really like the bed liner and olive drab. I was actually thinking about doing camouflage like with leaves and stuff to give it like a home made hunting blind look ,but I'm still super far away from paint though. I can't wait to see all 14 pages.

I actually like crank windows a lot more than electric. I used to daily a 78 C10 back in Freshman and Sophmore year of high school with the smoker windows and floor vents and that truck wasn't bad in the summer. I wish this truck had smokers windows and floor vents.

I'd love to see what stuff you've bought! I could probably get some inspiration off of your build threads. I hate it when people lie about stuff like that. It's not like you're not going to look at it before you buy it.

I will say that more of my parts are from the salvage yard than new parts. Granted the unexpected wreck I had was a contributing factor. In all honesty I’m the kinda guy that is happy in a junkyard, it’s my perfect peace.

similar here, I bought my c3500 cclb from the j/y that I was working @, @ the time. zero rot, but pretty much every panel was banged up, electrical issues, ac delete, filthy as hell, bad repaint. currently rocking no headliner or carpet, non-working windows (remember, it ac delete), replaced the hood w/ a correct color unit & replaced 3 doors w/ 2-tone units. most of parts are from the j/y as I find them. currently has over 495k mi. while most wouldn't have bothered, it is the bare bones of what I wanted & hopefully one day get to where I want it. gmt400 crew cabs are not all that common in my area. especially reasonably priced. doesn't matter if they are a rot box or pristine condition, they are stupid money.
