How do you guys install your car seats and what model are you using?

I know these trucks do not include the LATCH systems or top tethers... how are you securing them?

I am starting to look at a booster seat for my 4 year old boy so he can go ride into town or to the pond with daddy. He gets sad when I hop in the truck and he can't ride.

I saw this one was rated pretty well... but I am not totally sure if it uses a combination of latch and the seat belt. One of the pics looks like the seat belt is holding the girl in while the latch system is holding the seat down...

I know, as kids, I don't even remember car seats. And I know kids are riding in these trucks today, so what are you guys using and how is it hooked up?

Have you checked this thread? There's a bunch of good info in there.

*EDIT!*
Ohhh...kid seats! As in...'kid' seat. As in Munchkins. Yard apes. Tots.
When I read your post, I read 'kids' as if you were just referring to the members here, according to the lowest common denominator. Doh!

Have to grow old. Don't have to grow up.

Either way, I'm no help. No clue.

I actually have read that thread! lol, those Pontiac seats look freakin comfy!

I searched for "child safety seats" as well, I saw a few things, but nothing that answered all my questions. I thought maybe someone could suggest a specific model, provide a pic, tell a story, something, lol.

No worries man.

Radian brand car seats are the only thing we buy. At 4, a convertible car seat / high back booster is the best option for him. You can mount the seat in the middle or on the side. If you're using just the lap belt in the middle, you'll need to use the safety lock clip since it doesn't lock like the sides do. If you put him in the middle, I'd recommend using the 5 point harness of the car seat especially if you have bucket seats. I've got more thoughts and info but this is what I can type at work. Any more questions ask or feel free to message me.

i had a 96 ext cab with the 60/40 split bench seat. we have a costco car seat for a 3yo and i used to strap it in the middle so he could use the center console as a foot rest. they cab be a pita to get in and out and there isnt alot of leg room with them so that was about the best option.

I would honestly like to put him on the passenger side so I can move the front seat forward to maximize his leg room. If he is riding with me, most likely no one else will be riding in the front. My truck is a third vehicle and the other two cars are set up with car seats already. He just wants to ride with me to the parts store, hardware store, or out to the pond to fish, etc...
