Alrighty guys.

So I've been doing a lot of research & reading. I'm planning on swapping a 12v cummins into my 96 k3500 which currently has a 6.5. As far as physical swapping it, I'm pretty good on that. My question is more so related to tedious stuff. Such as hooking up sensors & what not.

1)
I want to hook up the "wait to start" light to the grid heater so that during cold winters, it actually helps start it. Has anyone hooked up the 6.5 glow plug controller to the grid heater? If so, how did you do it & did it work?

2)
I'm going to want to know my oil pressure. The 6.5 uses an oil pressure switch which tells the pcm to turn on the lift pump, yadda yadda. Do you just run the 6.5 oil pressure switch on the 12v? If so, where did you mount it & did it work? Other ways of using the factory gauge to read oil psi? I want it to look as close to factory as possible.

3)
Do most people with 6.5's just run the GM alt on the Cummins since the alt runs the tach & voltage? Or is the tach going to be wrong? I have heard of using a Dakota digital controller in line to tell the tach the correct signal or reading, but that's another failure point I'd rather avoid.

4)
Coolant temp sensor? Again, I'm assuming most people just swap the 6.5 coolant temp sensor over & run that? If so, wheres the best place to put it?

Just trying to nail down the nitty gritty details before I jump into this project. I'm excited for sure. Not sure if it makes a difference, my 6.5 has the alternator mounted high on the passenger side by the turbo & the ac compressor is mounted high on the driver side. From what I've read, it's easier to run the dodge ac compressor & you just buy or make new ac lines? I'm still trying to find a bracket to use my GM alt on the 12v. Anyways, thanks guys!
