Guys, I'm changing the torsion bars on my '97 K3500...which end goes forward? I don't see any marks to indicate forward.

Thanks!
Tommy

Should be a stamped end with the bar code. That's the front. There is also a left and right. You will need to check the codes to look up which is which.

Mine had stickers. I don't recall them being stamped, but they could be. I painted them with some thick asphalt paint, so I probably buried the print. I think I got mine in wrong, as one is really cranked down and the other isn't. I haven't wanted to mess with them again, but I did notice that Orielly Auto has a Torsion bar tool for loan.

I had to pound the t-bars out of the control arms.

They all come with stickers. Most are long gone by now. The stamp on the end is the front and won't come off.

Well, after pounding mine out, they may be illegible now. I'll have to take a look at the rear to see if I got either one of them in backwards... is that's possible.

OP, I've never seen new T-bars from any aftermarket company for our trucks.... even those that make/sell T-bars. The demand probably just isn't there. Anybody that does need/want performance t-bars probably gets them custom made$$$$$. For commercial clients that are still running our trucks used parts would work fine.

I got my bars new from GM Parts Giant. Got the part numbers off this website. I'm installing a Detroit 6v53, so I got the 9000lb torsion bars to help with the added weight.

In a couple of months I'll have some 8600 lb bars for sale, used, 240,000 miles, but the truck sat straight; didn't sag.
