Hello,

I put a step side on my Crew Cab GMC K2500 about a year ago and the guy I bought it from botched his paint job.

I've been waiting for a while now to fix all the impurities in the SMC and paint the bed to match the rest of the truck but I want to remove the step side panels to make it easier on me.

Is there a write up with some images or a body repair manual floating around that will help guide me through removing the fenders?

Thanks!

Like removing the actual bulged panels from the bedside? Unless it's a dually, I always assumed they were molded together. I could be wrong though.

I'd also take the chance to just sand every inch of the bed down and repaint the entire thing myself. Or paint the outside and bedline the inside.

I just removed mine. A bunch of the bolts broke off in the top rail but I'm replacing it anyway. Just be careful not to brake the metal plate underneath the stepside where 2 bracket attach to the actual steel bed. I now have to trace one out and machine a custom piece. Otherwise they are like 140 a piece on lmc truck x4 corners can be priced. Biggest piece of advice I have is pre soak all bolts with penetrating fluid. If your u nuts are rusty replace them from lmc. If I remember correctly they were pretty cheap
