Anyone use A/C Delco fuel pump? Factory replacement? My Astro has an Airtex from Advance auto parts. Lifetime warranty and I had to replace it once already
Get an acdelco pump from the dealer or go to advance auto parts and get a GM Delphi pump. Airtex is junk

How about, I'd rather put forth effort to do the job right rather than hack up my truck. Hmmm

Let's see if that kind of ugly disagreeing statement gets deleted

Richard

Oh lord did your little feelins get ruffled, lol. Do whatever ya like, that's the joy of life. But again, your "opinion" of right is not everyone's opinion. You want to spend hours doing a 15min job more power to ya. Point is a trap door Doesn't take ANYTHING away from a vehicle when done properly, no one but the owner or people they told will ever know it's there. Unless it's in the bed of a truck, but even then when done properly it's a non-issue.

Chop your truck up bro, it's yours. I don't care, really. Or in the words of one of the moderators here, "if you don't agree just move along" :D :D :D

Hey I totally get it, people sometimes get mad when you point out that they're being lazy.

I highly second what someone else said about AAA. My truck just dirtied it's britches this past Friday while our other truck was in the shop for repairs I was too lazy and inexperienced to do. At least once a year one of our vehicles decides to go poopy when least convenient. All it takes is one tow and that membership pays off.

Oh lord did your little feelins get ruffled,
Based on your replies, I think you're the one getting overly emotional.

Unreinforced holes weaken the body. Collisions are unpredictable. If the tank ruptures, the seal on the sending unit is moot. And if the vehicle rolls over, and the access hole is not sealed because the body distorted around the hole, well, gasoline flows downhill.

You can decide that that's a risk you're willing to take. You can't deny facts and logic.

Well...you can deny facts and logic, but you look really silly when you do.

There's a reason that racing rule-bodies demand a sheetmetal panel between the trunk and passenger compartment, on vehicles with a trunk-mounted fuel cell. They're trying to keep fuel out of the passenger compartment if things go bad.

Approximately 2 months ago I ordered a delphi hp10001 fuel pump on eBay($84) and installed it in the 97 k1500. Just the pump arrived in a plain white box with no packing materials. the lack of labeling on the pump was kind of suspect, but I installed it anyway. Went to fill up the other day and it quit.
did the routine tests figuring it was a relay/wiring/electrical issue. Nope, pump was toast.
Ordered a new delphi hp10001 from amazon($148). Arrived in a delphi box with all the fixins(o rings & retention ring). Looked to be of much higher quality. Filter sock was smaller & tighter, pump body frame was thicker and had sturdier mounting tabs, float pivot was reinforced, and it was labeled delphi hp10001 on the flange that sealed to the tank...once it was in she started up much better than before, AND the fuel gauge needle stopped bouncing as well(which it continued to do after installing the first fake delphi unit)...moral of the story, watch out for bootleg parts when ordering online, especially eBay.

...In hindsight I should have taken pics of the two pumps side by side to illustrate the differences. but since I was swapping them in a parking lot and was racing a thunderstorm I did not.
got the filler neck bolted up as the first drops fell.goodtimes

Some of these sellers will fake anything. Even a stupid washer reservoir bottle - claimed in the ad as "genuine GM" and had a picture of the real one. What I got was aftermarket. Was tired of waiting and didn't want my wife's truck to go without bug juice any longer so I just installed the damn thing.
