Ive always wanted a Monte Carlo SS. So one day I'm looking at the yourerie website and there she is...an 1985 Monte sc with a Euro nose.(yes Ive become quite the knowledgeable one on the Monte Carlo family) Its rough but it has a transplanted 350 (they only came with 305's) with Vortec heads, true dual exhaust, and the right price....900 bucks. So I call the guy and make arrangements to see it. Oh ya its in rough shape but it has a nice stereo!
Main thing is the frame is in great shape! No rot!
No computer just a edelbrock carb and intake breathing into the vortec heads...
Ya I bought it.....and all of the parts needed to make it into an SS.
It also has a Grand Prix dash and 98 Grand Prix front seats.
Always a work in progress....

Looks good! I like the pewter color too. It may be a clone, but for what you have into it, it makes a cool driver.

Oh and since you have a grand Prix dash, if you painted it white with a blue interior. you could tell people it's a Mexican Monte SS. They all came white with blue interiors and blue stripes and no spoiler.

I bought a 14k mile 84 Monte Carlo SS in 1986 from a policeman friend of mine complete with one of the last push button radios GM ever offered Blue on Blue color combo ....to this day one of the tightest cars suspension wise I can remember ever driving from the factory. I loved the exhaust tone because at 55mph it took on a completely different tone in the cabin ....HP was dismal and its actually a really long car for what it is but it was a great cruiser ....IIRC I ran it at the track and it ran a dismal 15.65 as I recall ...but still was a great looking and handling car ... I sold it to my mother with around 24k miles on it ...she drove it and put 130k miles on it in total in around 11 yrs before she passed away . It was a great car for her and never broke down once....we only put a water pump and brake pads on it and that was it .
