Pulled the pan to find the #4 rod making some noise. Ill look at the clearances and what not later. Pulled the cap and bearings everything looked good. Looking over the engine at eye level i found the spring dampeners where all messed up. So later tonight ill take a few out and check them. Ill be starting a parts list today, new valve springs are right on top.

So i put a new bearing on #4 rod and everything seems tight. Maybe just a fluke thing. Here is a pic of the bearing that came out.

I ordered new valve springs, keepers and locks as well as a new spring compressor(the one i own i don't thing would do a double spring) and a high voltage coil. Once the new springs are installed I'm going to dial in on the push rods to make sure the valve geometry is perfect. In between all that I'm rewiring the engine bay to get rid of as much tbi wiring as possible.

Man your truck is looking so awesome. Loving the build! Do you happen to know off hand which radiator and fans were used in your setup? Any product info or links to the parts would be greatly appreciated. I love the Flex-A-Lite kit but i have trouble justifying well over $500 for it. Cant wait to see it back together!

Thanks for following along.

Radiator:

Fans: 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE 4.6L V8
TYC 621390 - Fan assembly
AIRTEX/WELLS 1P1028 - Electical connectors.

The fans will require some trimming unless you go with a wider radiator.

Received all the parts to get the valve springs and seals done.

And then proceeded to go through and replace said springs. (!Warning Injured Springs Ahead!)

Started off fine.

But at least no damage was done.

Once the springs where done, I dialed in the correct push rod length i needed.

i think the ones i had (gold colored) where a tad to long.

Tonight I'm ordering the correct push rods, gaskets and a few other things. Maybe it will be back in the truck in a few weeks.

Oh and while waiting on parts, I started making a test piece to cover the top of the radiator. Steel was a bit too thin but you get the idea.

Push Rods should finally be here tomorrow. While waiting, the block was cleaned and painted.

New intake manifold came in so i had to set it on top. With the t-stat housing being higher, I have to rework the steel rad hose to fit the new intake. I'll do that with the engine in the truck.

And i got a new pan in. Cast aluminum, because I hate stamped steel.

Tonight I'm going to finish putting the bottom end together, button up the wiring in the engine bay, and do some porting on the intake. Tomorrow I'm going to powder coat some engine parts and start on finishing the engine assembly.
