I'm sure someone's done this before, but this is how I did it. Two 52mm gauges fit perfectly in the aftermarket radio delete compartment.
Compartment from Crutchfield. Dual Gauge mount from VDO.
It's a big job to pull the dash, but I really had to. The main harness got damaged somehow...maybe mice. I think you could replace the heater core and evap core without removing the heater box. Once I had the dash out though, it seemed easier to pull the box out to change the cores. The box had...
Your evap core might look like this. I can't see light through any part of it. There is dirt down in the fins, and I doubt it would flow any air at all. I guess I could try to clean it, but the system has been open for who knows how long and a new core isn't that expensive
I took mine apart for wire harness repair and cause I suspected the evap core was clogged full of mouse nest. 100% correct assumption. Not only mouse nest, but moldy dirt was completely sealing off the evap core. No chance of any air getting through that core.
So yes. After 35 years, we are...
I currently have my dash out. When I removed and disassembled the heater box, the evap core is completely sealed off with mold and dirt. No chance it would flow any air or cool efficiency. I'm replacing the evap core, heater core, and all three actuators. Plus I will clean the inside with...
I don't actually have a write up, but I would warn anyone that the plastic tabs are probably going to break. I have worked on a different 1990 truck interior and a 92 Camaro, and GM was really at a low point with regard to the quality of their interiors in the 1990s.
Expect to break some plastic.
Its a 1989 K3500 that was advertised as having 108k miles. I bought it based on pictures only for $1200. I think I got lied to and they have swapped out the odometer. Win some, lose some.
I have a 1989 k3500. It is 4x4 7.4L with TH400 mated to the transfer case. Will the NV4500 bolt to my transfer case? Will I need a different transfer case also?
Has anyone one made a thread about swapping out TH400 for a manual?
I want to convert my truck to manual shift. Will any transfer case from a chevy truck work? Does the transfer case need to be specific to the axle gear ratios?
I have a 1989 7.4l with TH400
Will this one work? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/716619466786331/?mibextid=dXMIcH
