    4l60e issues

4th gear is achieved when the band is applied while the 3-4 clutch is in play. In other words, since you indicate no issue with 2nd and 3rd, the problem is going to be in the 4th apply circuit, and not the band itself, since it already functions successfully in 2nd. The 2nd apply circuit is...

    4L80E Intermittent Leak, Morning Sickness

Totally understand, your description of your issue that is present for the first couple of miles, indicates something completely different. Even a totally dry converter will be fully charged in less than a minute of run time, so if there's enough fluid in the unit it won't exhibit that...

    4L80E Intermittent Leak, Morning Sickness

The answer is actually a very simple one. . . it's converter drainback. The converter is full of fluid, right to the very top, and with the motor stopped ( and running of course ) the fluid level in the trans is substantially lower - usually a little above the pan gasket. When you switch off the...

HELP! 4l60e is being a Dick Weed!

Based on what you've stated it's unlikely to be anything other than a blocked filter. Obviously a reasonable amount of material is required to do this, so something is definitely failing. Dropping the pan and replacing the filter may get you mobile again - until the filter is restricted again...

    4l60e help!

Front of the valve body, drivers side (for left hand drive vehicles) nearest to the manual valve held in with the same clip you would have removed when you changed shift solenoid A & B

    4l60e help!

OK, so changing shift solenoids A & B wont have any effect as there is no indication that there is an issue with them. P0785 is for the shift timing solenoid ( or 3-2 downshift solenoid ) not the "shift" solenoids, and this occurs when the TCM sees the resistance in that circuit is outside of...

Time to Get Serious With 4L60e/4L65e Cooling...

Coolers are definitely a must have, but cooler flow rate is an area that gets overlooked all to often too. A big cooler with a restriction in the cooler circuit will result in damage just as quickly as insufficient cooling. That aside, there is another approach to prevent heat issues in these...

No Noises, Not moving in any gear

The drive lugs on the rotor can break but this is usually due to a failure to engage the converter into the pump gear at the time the trans was installed. No drive at all on start up is the norm in this situation but I have seen a couple drive quite normally for a while... sheer luck that the...

    any transmission wizards?

OK so your pictures show its a 4L60/700R4 trans. TV cable wont cause a loss of drive but if not adjusted correctly can dramatically shorten the life of these units. A couple of thoughts re your issue with the loss of drive after a few miles (i assume its all drive forwards and reverse?) Either...

    3 rebuilt 4l60e's later.....

If all three units were built by the same builder, and they can't find the cause - i doubt they ever will. If all three came from different sources, it's unlikely three builders could create three units that exhibit the same symptom and fail in the same manner - unless the fault is not in the...
