90 truck with 86-87 Corvette engine

I completely agree the aftermarket EFI manufacturers are not being honest. Dyno tests have shown repeatedly the longer runners will make more torque lower in the rpm range when tested back to back on an otherwise identical small block v8. I'd like to see an rpm air gap converted to use port...

    1996 Tahoe 4/6 Drop kits

Thank you! Yes, I put the cluster in it. At the risk of hijacking this thread I will share I need to remove the cluster and repair the odometer, it's frozen, and free up the speedometer needle, it stutters between 40 and 70.

    1996 Tahoe 4/6 Drop kits

Those are the ones I used. 3/4" narrower works with my wheels which have 5.25" backspace and 8.5 inch wide. If your wheels stick out more you might consider the stone fab or CPP arms because those are 1" narrower than stock and will provide another .25" clearance.

454 swap? What does it entail?

The 454 will drive much better in a full size truck used for truck stuff in any comparison with a 6.0. Stock vs stock the 454 is easier to drive. The torque peak is 1000s of rpm lower. Let's add headers and a camshaft to both. The 6.0 will still make more horsepower, given the restriction in...

454 swap? What does it entail?

Just want to add the LS does a lot of things better than a big block. Power potential is not one of those things.

    1996 Tahoe 4/6 Drop kits

Use a control arm kit for the front. It is CRITICAL to narrow the front track width on these trucks if you are going lower. Stock width control arms will put the front tires in contact with the inner fender lips and ruin a nice set of tires. Front co tool arm kits that narrow the track width...

    Interior paint

Yes. This is the paint. I searched my history and don't have any photos of the painted panels, but I'll get one and post it. I'll find a fresh painted panel next to one of the old ones that's turned green to emphasize the improvement this paint can make.

1999 tahoe 4 door lowering question

Thank you. Mine is 2wd. There are 4wd lowering kits available. Belltech makes torsion bar keys to lower the front of a 4wd 1-3 inches, and their rear shackle and hanger kit is rated at 4 inches of drop. That would be a good start.

1999 tahoe 4 door lowering question

DJM offers a 4 door tahoe specific rear kit. The tahoe 4 door is different from all other gmt400s. The leaf springs are shorter and the front hangers are different. Shackles are the same though. For the front I strongly recommend a narrowed control arm. Stock arms put the tire in contact with...

89 RCLB K1500 - Quality time with my son building his first truck.

Interested to learn how these will mount. I have a similar idea to incorporate long bars.

    Wheel help for 92 1500

The critical measurement that determines interference in the front is the amount of wheel that hangs out over the wheel mounting surface. The maximum amount is roughly 4 inches. Some say 4.25, but I've seen 3.75 contact the fender lip. So, roughly 4 inches. This measurement will reduce if a 12...

    Wheel help for 92 1500

Control arms are the preferred way to drop the front for a couple of reasons. Some of the spindle drops increase the track width making it even more challenging to tuck the front tire. Control arms come with new ball joints and bushings which could need replacement anyway given these trucks are...

    Best cam for stock L31?

What does this hypothetical cam spec at .050 for an L31 and what would you recommend as the hypothetical pump gas compatible static compression ratio?

    Best cam for stock L31?

Sounding cammed at idle with a truck is a bit contradictory because trucks need low end torque. Large intake duration is needed to sound cammed and that same duration kills low end torque. Anyway... Do it! If you're running an L31, bump up the compression ratio and run a Summit cam. They offer a...

JDM drop springs and control arms

I use two floor jacks and two jack stands and a ratchet strao. I put the jack stands just behind the front body mount so the front of the vehicle is securely suspended in the air with enough clearance to pull the wheels off the front. Before you start reassembly, zip tie the spring isolator...
