You may be right. A lot of things can come up when you are right at the edge of your ratings. I looked up your trailer because it was curious. It's a monster for a conventional trailer! The "dry" tongue weight is 1250 on forest rivers site! Thats 15% of the "dry" camper weight of ~8500lbs... -

Built most of my engines this way. Clean up, check guides, lap valves, new seals and springs. If things don't check out (warped deck, bad guides, bad valve seats), then get a machine shop involved.- tachrev

To some extent, GVWR is a made up number anyway to force vehicles into a specific registration class. Manufactures play with these all the time to put vehicles in the class they want. Your GAWR front and rear tells the truth on payload. My Suburban is an 8600gvw truck. But the front axle... -

Just ordered on for a 2500, it was a 2 3/16" thick 2 core 19x34. I looked up the 3500 as well and it was the same radiator. I thought you could get the 350 trucks with a FF rear...maybe that is only in the 3500's. There are so many combinations on these trucks its hard to keep track. -

I have a 4l60e. It tows my camper for hours at a time in 3rd. As long as the converter stays locked the trans never exceeds the engine coolant temp. 185F in my case, because my thermostat is lower than stock. I do have the "tow package" with factory external cooler. Without an external cooler... -

Need a new Y pipe..
I have a Jegs mandrel bent catless one on my truck. Pipe was great, gaskets and clamp that came with it sucked. Replaced those and now it's leak free and fits great.- tachrev

Thanks. Cheapest money could buy on amazon! :) But they work great. Wanted factory style tow mirrors but they were more expensive and lots of reviews complained of vibrating mirrors. I prefer the GMC grill as well. We have towed with this setup all over the place east of the Mississippi... -

Yep. I have monitored mine with a scan tool. The trick is to try to keep the converter locked. A short time unlocked is fine, but if I am going to be pulling a hill for a long time, I will back off the throttle until the convertor locks back up again. The temps always stay stable if the... -

5.7 from 99 GMC Yukon having heat issues
If it is overheating at highway speeds, then its not the fan. Assuming the water pump doesn't have a mechanical issue and there are no air pockets in the system, it is flat out not enough air flow through the cooling stack, or not enough cooling surface area. GM crate engines?
I don't think that is the case. GM says you can run the HT383 on the stock tune. You can change your exhaust without a tune. Optimizing the tuning helps even on a stock engine, but it is not required. Definitely not required for the possible 5-10 cfm difference (if that) in flow on the...- tachrev
