    700R4 took a dump

I'm guessing a shop would be in the $3K price range.

    700R4 took a dump

They say they replace what's needed and reuse what still is in spec. 1k seems under priced as most everyone else is almost twice that much $$$. I haven't checked the local rebuilder yet, but they won't do a bench rebuild, they want to r&r it themself. I'm a retired mechanic but have never...

    700R4 took a dump

Anybody hear of, or use Atransmission for a rebuilt trans? At $999 seems like a real bargain. That's the best price I have found, everybody else seems to be about double that price. All their reviews are 5 star, seems a little odd.

    700R4 took a dump

Where is the best place to get a rebuilt trans for my '89 K1500 4x4. Coming home from town slowed down for traffic and then stepped on the go pedal and the t-case shifter was rattling and making a terrible noise. came to a stop and went to take off and the trans was slipping, by the time I...

    1936 GMC

So I'm putting a 4.3 $l60E in my 36 GMC pickup truck. I want to use the NSS on the side of the trans. It has a 4 wire and a 7wire plug on the NSS. My question is which wires do I need to use to lock out no-start in gear and which wires for the back-up lights. I have an aftermarket tilt column...

What are your thoughts on this rust? Can I repair or do I need to replace?

I have a complete 97 suburban , less engine that's a lot better than that ( California car ) I'll sell the whole thing for $1500 then you would have everything you need plus spare body parts. It's 4x4 auto.

    failed smog

Sorry for the late reply, we've been out of town for a few weeks. Anyway I tested the egr system and everything worked as it should, then checker temp in front and behind the cat ant the temps were the same. Cut the cat out and the honeycomb was breaking apart. New cat fixed it.

    A/C viberation

yes I did check that all the bolts were tight and not bottoming out. And yes with a new drier, condenser, flushed evaporator, compressor and flushed hoses. Added 8oz oil and 28oz R134. I guess I just need to disassemble the whole front of the engine again and carefully check every thing as it...

    A/C viberation

yes by touch. I can plug and unplug the compressor and make it go away or vibrate. I did the conversion years ago and it worked well until I installed the vortec engine, then the vibration started. Bought a new one from NAPA checked the oil level, evacuated and recharged wit 28 oz r134. New...

    A/C viberation

Am getting tired of not having a/c in the summer. I am wondering if I can use '96 suburban accessory brackets. I know I would have to redo a couple of the a/c hoses and some of the wires would have to be extended. I just cant find the source of the vibration . I have 2 '96's here that I could...

    high nox

95 K1500 5.7l failed smog with high nox 723ppm at 15mph. I checked the timing, it's a zero, checked the egr operation, works just like the book says it should, the o2 sensor is switching. What else is there to check? I did a cat temp test at 2000 rpm inlet 354 outlet 248. I'm thinking cat...

    failed smog

92 K1500 5.7 TBI failed calif smog test due to high NOX measured 716 at 15mph and 572 at 25mph. All other specs well inside the fail window. Any ideas as where to start? EGR leaking?

    blinking A/C temp selector

Thanks for the info, I do have the paper factory manuals for my 89 it covers 88 to 92 I think. I saw when doing an internet search something about grounding a green wire in the control head. Of course I can't find it again :( I'll see if I can find this in my books.
