The truck has hydroboost, not a fan. Thru a belt a few years ago, lost steering and brakes! Not fun at 70 mph.
What brake controller would you guys suggest? I have a Redarc, The problem I see is if you don't start slowing down the accelarometer doesn't provide any braking.
I have a 96 C3500 CC DRW, 7.4L 4L80E.
I am looking for a brake upgrade for towing.
I recently trailered a Trailblazer SS on a open trailer and it was kind of sketchy. I think I need a better brake controller as well.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig
The A/C in the truck works sometimes. On initial startup it works. It works when I am driving. However if I get into traffic (stop and go) it stops working. Also if I stop for gas or at a store it doesn't work on starting the truck. Normally if I can drive several miles it starts working...
I would really prefer going with the Cummins. I had a 99 24 valve that pulled this trailer just fine and got 10+ MPG doing so.
Does anyone know of a swap kit?
I would also need info for modifying the wiring harness.
Thanks
Craig
So like the title says I am looking for better towing power in my 96, I pull a 48ft race trailer. The truck is a low milage, about 40K miles, 7.4L 2WD DRW with the 4L80 and 4:10 gears.
As I see it I have several options.
option 1;
I have an extra high mile L29 I pulled from a 97. I could...
found the connectors;
Part numbers
12129135 & 12129136
12129135 is for the body harness and 12129136 is for the seat harness. these can be purchased individually.
Part number 12129157 is for the secondary lock. Its required.
The pins are a bit more difficult because the pin part number changes...
Tried them, real nice guys, but they couldn't help me. The suggested cutting the connector off my existing seats and wiring it into the new seats. I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
Thanks
Craig
I am installing the bucket seats and console out of a 2017 Silverado into my 1996 Silverado, with power bucket seats.
My question is does anyone know the part number for the electrical plug and pins for the 1996 Silverado? I want to hook up the power adjustments in the 2017 seats to the stock...
I had a similar problem. Turned out I had a leaky rear axel seal. Replaced the seal cleaned everything up, adjusted the rear drums and now all is good.
I use non-insulated crimp connectors, I have a high quality crimper. I then use heavy duty heat shrink, it has a glue inside the heat shrink that melts when heated. This creates a sealed connection that won't allow water into the connection so no corrosion.
I am not against soldering but it...
