5.3 pros and cons.

Just like previous two post stated the 01 is drive by cable. If it were me I would just use the transmission that is with the 5.3. I would keep the other transmission as a backup. If I’m not mistaken your transmission will work but you need a spacer or a different flywheel if memory serves me...

3rd Brake Light Options

This is the one that I have on my truck. It works perfect and I like how it looks. The only thing I don’t like on it is the gasket isn’t flush around the light. I thought about using a factory gasket but haven’t tried it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X1129RD/ref=tsm_1_tp_tc

350 or ls swap?

I vote ls swap as that is what I did. I swapped in a lm7 5.3 from a 2005 suburban. I paid $500 for engine, transmission, drive shaft, wiring, computer, Exhaust, and complete coolant system. I probably spent another $700 on miscellaneous parts that I needed. So far I have put about 10k miles on...

98 Silverado rcsb ls swap

Thanks Steve! Dubs, that’s the plan. I can actually see chunks missing off of the upper control arm bushings. I would like to buy moof parts but they are expensive. I have also been looking at the blilstein 4600 stunts/shocks since I don’t plan on going to low.

Another NO brake lights truck

I know that when I bought my truck I had a similar issue. It ended up being a ground wire that was not connected. It was on the driver side under the bed close to the back bumper. Your issue may be different but it’s still worth looking at.
