Still haven't finished everything yet. Need to relocate crossmember and install th400 yoke. Finish wiring, install rest of exhaust, rig up power steering lines and some other miscellaneous stuff.
Hope to have some YouTube vids up soon for everyone.
Flare between shifts is a sign of worn under/over rev clutches. Add a half-quart of fluid and see if that helps, if it does help then think about adding a shift kit.
I have driven 4L60's that flared for 100k miles and some for 1k miles before they gave up.
I know everyone wants this thread to die, but don't fear nitrous... I have ran nitrous on many stock rotating assemblies and never blown an engine. It's all in the tune and don't get greedy. Learn to read plugs and how to tune.

I'm trying my best to NOT drill any more holes in the frame. Anyone have pictures of a 454SS truck trans crossmember or know if it's different than the 700R4 crossmember?
Got my 388 in and Super Comp's installed. Still have to finish a lot. That engine fought me every step almost. My TH350 is actually a TH400, so gonna have a little more work there to do. Hopefully I can get another day off pretty soon to finish it up.
388 hopefully going in this coming weekend along with TH350 and 3500 nitrous converter. 700r4 will not last much longer so I will use my TH350 until I can afford a 4L80 swap.
Purchased Hooker Super Comps instead of the Maximizer's. 2" primaries scare me.
To-do list for next weekend:
- motor...
Having some fuel pressure issues with my Sniper. Suspecting that feeding the high pressure pump with the stock pump is the culprit. Next weekend I have off, I will be plumbing the stock tank to bypass the stock pump. Fun...
I am going to try the Maximizers. I will post all the install pics here or in my build thread. It will be a few weeks before I order tho, funds are drained a bit from the Sniper install.
If you want it to control timing, do not use a magnetic pickup distributor. Save yourself some headache and buy their Hyperspark dist and coil. After I did that, it has been smooth as silk and runs better than factory.
Other random advice.
Don't use a carb spacer.
Make great connections, solder and heat shrink.
Do everything you can to eliminate RFI.
Make sure Sniper gets 12 volts while cranking.
I will keep updating this thread as time goes by.
