Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

Mostly this. These kits aren’t fresh designs, most OBS trucks are ~30 years old now and full spring kits used to be widely available. The Squarebody kits still are, most times at or under $1000. Squares were cheap and plentiful, lift kits were cheap, so you could build a decent off-road truck...

    TBI with no injector pulse

That’s too funny, I was actually looking at the same diagram. So I realized that although I had checked for grounds at the ECU, I hadn’t actually checked for power, I just assumed it was there. The orange 12v wire that feeds both ECU connectors, the oil pressure switch, and the fuel pump relay...

    TBI with no injector pulse

This has to be a stupid easy solution that I’m overlooking, someone school me on this please. Truck is a 1987 (square body), with TBI. Truck ran and drove, transmission and transfer case were worn out, engine ran well but was leaky and dirty. Pulled all three, rebuilt transmission and transfer...

Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

I guess. I remember when Skyjacker offered a full 6” kit with rear leafs for $1500. Now $2500 still doesn’t even get you that! Honestly, I bet one could SAS for close to that price.

Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

This is more of a vent than an actual question, but what’s with all the lift kits being cheap crap these days? I sold one of my DD cars with the idea of picking up a 4 Door Wrangler for some off-roading. However, I ran across a 1990 K1500 RCLB for a fraction of the price, and thought why not...

    1991 Chevy C1500 RCSB Version: I Have A Problem

That’s about where it shifts currently with just the light spring removed. Works well for cruising around town, but I’ll probably lighten up the heavy spring a bit as well when I change the rear gears eventually. 700R4’s were also built with 3 lockup settings - 4th only, 3rd and 4th only, and...

    1991 Chevy C1500 RCSB Version: I Have A Problem

It’s not. This is a common mod for stock level transmissions, which this one is. The springs control the part throttle shifts and raise the RPM at which the governor forces a shift. The 700R4’s were an economy transmission, especially in the later years. Paired with high gears and 2-3-4 Lockup...

    1991 Chevy C1500 RCSB Version: I Have A Problem

Small updates! I installed an MSD Streetfire box because I had it free from another truck that got parted out. I didn’t think it would do much, but it actually made a noticeable difference in low RPM running quality, mainly during the periods when the transmission likes to lug the engine a bit...

All the timing sets i buy are too lose

You can buy .005” under timing sets (maybe tighter?) for blocks that have had the main caps line bored, since that process moves the crank closer to the cam slightly. Your case sounds a little extreme though.

Anyone used shock extenders with ONLY 2” shackle drop?

Ah, I’m not working with those. I just have stock shocks that I want moved further away from the axle for better clearance.

Anyone used shock extenders with ONLY 2” shackle drop?

Are you talking about the coilover/springover style shocks? Those I could absolutely see causing that issue.
