    I recently pulled the distributor as part of the intake gasket job and didn’t see any wear on the gears. Didn’t check for play in the shaft though. I’ll definitely keep it in mind, thanks

    Just recently swapped my 5.7 Vortec to MPFI. Does anyone know of a website/vendor that will buy the stock CFI spider back as a reman core? I’m assuming a GM stealership wouldn’t even bother with a +20 year old part

    Intake Gasket Replacement

    I tackled this job today along with the MPFI swap. This write up was extremely helpful, thank you! I used some 5/16” x 3” threaded studs to align the manifold on reassembly, worked great. Old gaskets were toast.

    need help pinpointing possible source of coolant leak

    I found coolant leaking at a similar spot on my 97 K1500, traced it up to the intake manifolds (very common gasket failure as others have mentioned.) check the back of the lower intake manifolds, on either side of the distributor.

    Thanks! I’ve been looking at the MPFI swap as well, seems like a good time to do it. Summit has the entire AC Delco swap assembly w/ gasket and bracket for less than $300, will likely go that route.

    Thanks for the replies, time to start studying up. Doesn’t seem too challenging, just a PITA. Are the FelPro gaskets still the go-to for replacement?
