5.7L Towing Upgrades (yes, another thread)

Yes and no. As stated in the previous posts, sometimes trucks get bogged down and end up at WOT at low speeds. Thats when the fans kick in. Take your truck down the interstate with a load and no fan and you'll probably have some issues.

Knock/tap after engine was covered with snow

Snow is mostly air with very little water. But if it managed to get enough I guess it could hydro lock but that probably wouldn't cause a knock. I like the idea of starting with no accessories. Could have easily bent the fan or similar.

Knock/tap after engine was covered with snow

Well i've never heard of anything like that. My first thought would be the heat change. If you take a hot engine block and immerse it in cold snow I could see some things happening that might not be too great. Cracked block or something like that. But thats just a guess and honestly I don't...

towing with my lowered crew cab

I understand where Stutaeng is coming from with this one. As a civil engineer I've done a fair bit of material testing and worked through numerous materials problems. Both Stutaeng is right and 618 is as well. Pictures really are necessary because if the C notch section was made out of thicker...

    700R4 Troubleshooting?

haha dorked, I like that word Sorry off topic, good luck with the trans One thing with the starter, they often have to be shimmed, make sure its not that. It's a lot easier to shim a starter than it is to replace a flywheel

Compression test / Cylinder leak test

Obviously the engine isn't installed in a truck currently so if it were me i would at least remove the heads. It gives you a chance to clean everything and replace the head gaskets while you're in there. Run through the valves and make sure they're all set correctly on reassembly. Id be tempted...

    98 5.0L stumbling under loads

Well I would definitely confirm that with something but that would cause some power issues.

    Ball Joint Grease Zerks

Well I appreciate the replies on a 2 year old post informing me on how to use a grease gun. Its a woods truck now so it doesnt matter anyway.

    454 oil pan removal

Usually 2WDs have enough room to pull the pan. 4WD doesn't have enough room without dropping the diff. Thats with the 350. Im guessing the 454 isnt much different.

    Reworked 6.5L pipe dream

Seems like you're not getting a lot of support on the 6.5 swap. Ill add in a little. With the diesel you will see slightly more MPG but like its said before its nothing to write home about. What is the best part is probably the price. The price would make me rather swap the diesel than buy...

9.5 14 bolt swap questions, beat to death I know............

SUV's will have different spring mounts for the leafs. Id try to find a 6 lug 14 bolt rear assuming your truck is a 1500 or a light 2500. You wont have to mess with a full float and itll have plenty of beef. Driveshaft might have a different yoke but there are plenty of adapters and ways to...

    Camshaft 350 v8 5.7 - 1988 k1500 Scottdale

If youre going to replace your lifters, I would pull one of the heads and check wear on the cylinder walls. If you have scoring or your cross hatch is gone, its time to rebuild.

    Tire load index

You can google the load index chart. With 7200lbs you could run a 100 or 101 load index. I wouldn't go much lighter than that. https://www.tiresplus.com/tires/tire-buying-guide/tire-load-index-chart/

    Winter grille cover for 95?

Cardboard behind your grill is the cheap way to do it. Id be a little surprised if anyone still made covers for them but you might be able to make one work from a different newer vehicle.
