No overdrive in freshly rebuilt 700r4

I’ll definitely try that as well, I wasn’t aware that could potentially keep it from going into OD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No overdrive in freshly rebuilt 700r4

Okay, this makes sense, since on a regular setup when you mash the gas it drops a gear. How I have been driving it is at part throttle, and in every other gear it’s been shifting ~2000 rpm and it just stays in 3rd. & I’ll try your suggestion for the lock up as well. Sent from my iPhone using...

No overdrive in freshly rebuilt 700r4

Okay so I’m back with more tranny woes. I decided to take one of the spare 700r4s I have laying around and got it rebuilt by a guy who came recommended to me by a friend. Heres the stuff he replaced and put in there. All High Energy frictions 8 Stack 3-4 clutch pack BW High energy band...

    Differences between a v6 and v8 governor

Is there any? I’m seeing listings for governors on eBay for 5.0 & 5.7 motors. The tranny I had rebuilt has a v6 governor. Is there really a difference? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Correct geometry for 700r4 in a 350 carb set up

I recently got a transmission rebuilt and swapped it into my truck. It shifts fine into both 2nd and 3rd, but it’s not going into 4th. I made sure that the trans fluid is at the appropriate level while idling so I know that isn’t my issue. I’m sure someone here has done a carb conversion and...

pulling a blown engine from 89 GMC 2500 with the 350

If you can remove the front radiator support it’ll make your life a lot easier. You could just then roll the truck back instead of having to drag the cherry picker out. But if not then just take your time and have a friend help. Once the motor is out clean your engine bay out, what I did is I...

pulling a blown engine from 89 GMC 2500 with the 350

Before you you go to pull it out, hook it up to a cherry picker, the way my brother and I did it is we had it so that most of the tension was towards the front so that as we jacked it up the motor would swing out towards the front. Put a little tension in it and remove the motor mount bolts...

pulling a blown engine from 89 GMC 2500 with the 350

If you haven’t already make sure to drain the block itself too, there’s a plug on one side near the bottom of the engine block that’ll drain the block of any coolant it has inside. Also check to see that your engine doesn’t have any grounding straps that connect it to the body or chassis. As far...

New Polyurethane bushings from Prothane, picked em up from Summit for a cool 60 bucks. The specific kit number is 7-112 for single cab models. Oof, here’s the old mounts, good thing I replaced them when I did. They definitely look like they were on they’re last legs. Here’s some shots of...

Shocks are the next upgrade, I was looking for an upgrade that wouldn’t break the bank so I did some research and settled on KYBs Gas-A-Just shocks. I didn’t anticipate how stiff they actually were, and I made the mistake of cutting one of the straps before installing. These suckers are STIFF...

One thing I have never really liked was the plastic bed liner. I’ve never liked it in this truck or any truck really. So I knew eventually I was going to line it. Here’s the bed after it’s been sanded and cleaned. I went with a Herculiner kit that was on sale at my local parts store. The kit...

Went and got new taillights too, these are from a company called Spyder and they’re LED. I saw some similar to these on a truck that’s near my house and fell in love with how they look at night, I think it’s a tasteful upgrade from the stock ones without being too flashy or looking out of place...

    ‘91 Scottsdale Build

It was time to get rid of this beat up grill, and while I was there I decided I wanted a cleaner look so I found a smoothie bumper for cheap and ordered a grill on eBay which came in really fast. The picture above is how the truck has always looked since I got it. Here’s the new updated look. I...
