    Engine Backfiring While in time

I’ve never heard of the need to readjust valve lash on a hydraulic cam unless you’re replacing something? Sounds like the valve lash is too tight and you have hanging valves. I’d have a buddy come over and take a look. A 2nd set of eyes never hurts, especially when you’re frustrated.

Does anyone know where I can locate the Right Door molding?

I’m not sure about the Sierra’s, but the factory Tahoe LT trim definitely came with shiny, chrome and black moldings all around. Here’s a pic of mine with brand new “oem” moldings.

Body side molding? Pros and cons??

I went through the same decision when I stripped and repainted my Tahoe. All the guys at work (I worked at a body shop then) said to leave it off. Initially I wasn’t sure but I’ve always liked the molding and it definitely protects the truck from door dings and damage. Once I decided to put it...

    LS SWAP IN CALIFORNIA

My ‘97 Tahoe is $179.00 a year and will never go down. Before the last gas tax/registration increase bill they shoved down our throats, it was under $100.00. My ‘04 X5 is $293.00. It is based on the original purchase price and depreciated for 11 years and then freezes. CA is ridiculously...

    Door glass run

X4 on OEM if available. I tried LMC and sent them back. Same with weatherstripping. OEM is much better. In fact after replacing my drivers door weatherstripping, I had to adjust the latch outward so I could get the door to close completely. It’s still tight 2 years later.

    Interior lights won’t turn off

My suspicion is you inadvertently rolled the cluster dimmer all the way up past the normal setting which turns on all interior lights whether the doors are open or not.

Need Advice on Flat Towing ‘97 Tahoe Z71

No solution. It either must be swapped which is a royal pita or a driveshaft disconnect could be installed. I elected to do neither and bought a ‘02 Jeep Liberty 4x4 which came from the factory ready to flat tow and I leave the Tahoe at home.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Hi Simon, Merry Christmas! When you pulled the old distributor out, did you first pull the cap off and make a mark on the firewall or something on the engine to indicate where the rotor was pointing? If not, it’s very likely that you might be a tooth or two off. Normally, I like to use a wax...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Props to you for swallowing your pride and coming back for help. I think sometimes people forget what is was like when they were young and just starting to work on cars. Some of us may have been lucky enough to have a Father, Grandfather, older Brother, next door neighbor, shop teacher, even a...

    Headlights and spoiler

just be very careful if you go with some cheap aftermarket units. I learned the hard way as soon as I attempted to adjust them and the plastic gears stripped. Ended up purchasing oem lights from GM.

    Flaking paint

A full respray including minor body work, full disassembly, prep, materials, color sanding and buffing will run between $5-$6 thousand dollars. More if you do a color change with all the jams. We’re talking high quality work and lifetime guarantee on workmanship. All trim removed, fixed glass...

    3rd brake light for SUV

The OEM 3rd brake light on my 97 Tahoe had a black plastic gasket. The replacements no longer come with one(even from the dealer). I first purchased the Dorman which had some type of sticky caulking on the bottom, it leaked when it rained. I then purchased an OEM light and it too came with a...

Need Advice on Flat Towing ‘97 Tahoe Z71

Hello everyone, I have a ‘97 2door Tahoe LT Z71. It’s a fully stock 350 Vortec/auto with a 3 button electronic shift transfer case. I am interested in flat towing it behind my RV. I believe it has a NP243 tcase but haven’t crawled under it to confirm. The three button does NOT have a neutral...
