I can almost guarantee it will need 3-4 clutches replaced. I would get a factory unit repair manual (it is a factory service manual for repairing transmissions and transfer cases) for the year of your truck if possible, if not as close to as you can. They are usually on ebay for a decent price...
Possible I would look at the service numbers on the pcms that should tell you what year it is off of, as far as I know every year had a different service number but could also bleed over if early or late built.
I just bought a truck with the same issue. Guy I bought it from couldn't make it startup. After a compression test pulled the cap and rotor was 120° out. Fixed that still no start check fire at coil, it was good. Moved to fire at #1, no fire. Replaced cap with known good cap runs like a champ now.
And with the single din route you can get a cubby hole for the radio control by the guages or add a panel for switches, another guage or whatever else you could mount there.
Possible you have a bad new part. Delphi is usually a decent brand, I've used quite a but of Delphi with no issues but could be a new bad part. I would try to get them to warranty swap you for another sensor or if you could get a known good MAF to test with. Could also be wires with too much...
