All the timing sets i buy are too lose

I just replaced my original timing set (222k miles) because I thought the chain had excess play. The new one had the same amount of slack.

What if your front diff fell off the tranny jack?

    Errr....yeah, of course

    Help me identify this hose

That's what I thought at first, but I traced that all the way from the diff to the vent cap at the radiator and that's all there.

    Help me identify this hose

Sorry, 1998 K1500 5.7 I had that in my profile but I just added to my signature. I replaced the lower intake manifold gasket, water pump, timing set, oil pump, front diff, and all steering linkages. Maybe I'm losing my mind and this is just some random hose, but it was laying on my upper fan...

    Help me identify this hose

(1998 K1500 5.7) I just got done with some major repairs and the truck is running great now. Even the check engine light is off. I had no leftover hardware or parts when I was done except for this one hose. Looks like some sort of vent hose. Smells like oil/fuel/exhaust. I can't find where...

What if your front diff fell off the tranny jack?

Thanks so much for that car-part.com recommendation! Picked up a used GU6 from a 99 Tahoe at a local yard today for $100.

What if your front diff fell off the tranny jack?

Does anyone sell just the half of the housing that's broken, or are the housing halves matched?

1998 K1500 front differential. Where would you recommend going for a replacement? Asking for a friend.....

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

Still not really sure where these dowel pins are but I guess I'll figure it out..... Maybe the fact that it's a 1998 Vortec 350 with a plastic timing cover makes a difference??

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

Thank you. I appreciate the insight. I know the timing cover has the land for the oil pan gasket. What I didn't realize was the importance the timing cover played in locating the oil pan gasket. Frank's reply was more descriptive to me.

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

Only SBF. I've had the 302 in my 88 Mustang on the stand stripped almost down to the bare block. Kind of a smartass comment really. The reason I asked is I can replace the timing cover without replacing the oil pan gasket, right? And I can replace the oil pan gasket without replacing the...

Is top dead center both timing dots facing eachother or both dots at 12 o clock?

If you were 180 out you wouldn't be driving it at all.

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

Thanks. Given the choice, would you install the oil pan first, then the timing cover? Or timing cover then oil pan?

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

This wasn't the review I had read, but another one saying the same thing. After 5 minutes running, puddle of oil.

OS34500R pan gasket - Is this going to be a problem?

I think I remember seeing a review on one of the parts sites where someone saw a similar issue and had nothing but leaks afterwards. I don't want leaks after all this work. Has anyone else noticed this at the front of the pan with the Felpro OS34500R gasket? It fits fine at the rear, and I...
