95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

I don't know how much use you'll get out of it in Florida, or how likely it is you'll end up somewhere it'll more useful. I will say that when I've had to use the heater it's been really nice to have both going. It takes a while for just the front vents to get that barn-sized truck warmed up...

    Wrong ECM?

I bit the bullet and ordered a decent scan tool; it'll work on all my (computer-equipped) vehicles and I've been eyeing them for a while. That's probably the smarter way to solve my actual problems. I appreciate the help and the info. My two other Chevies are 25-30 years older and newer than...

    Wrong ECM?

Not yet, it'll be a few days before I've got the cable. But you did confirm that my suspicion is at least possible, which helps.

    Wrong ECM?

I'm waiting on an ALDL cable and trying to relearn how to use TunerPro RT, so I can do some datalogging and pin down a weird idle. When I bought this truck a few years ago I went through and took pictures of a bunch of things to have onhand as reference material, one of which was the ECM...

    95 7.4 starting(?) problems

The battery was drained initially by several days of trying to get the truck to start. The alternator is a beefy Powermaster I installed last year when I did a big 5 upgrade. If it gets the chance to run, it charges just fine. I watched him set up the machine, which he did properly. If the...

    95 7.4 starting(?) problems

A few weeks ago I was towing a Ranger on a uhaul trailer. My 95 Suburban was doing perfectly fine, until suddenly it wasn't doing anything. It died as if I'd turned the key. I figured out the injectors weren't injecting, and hoped maybe some old electronics were heat-soaked. After a few minutes...

Big 3 and Dual Battery Kits

I also should've come back with an update. I ordered my Big 3 kit for a 95 7.4, but held off for way too long before installing it. Ended up needing a new alternator, so I installed the kit while waiting for the Powermaster to arrive. No complaints, and everything fired up first try. Running...

95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

I used a dremel. I cut aaaalmost all the way through but wanted to make sure I didn't go too deep and damage the hard lines beneath. So I didn't cut quite all the way through the clamps, I left a little bit still attached at the bottom of the "troughs" and just popped it off with a screwdriver...

    TBI 454 idle problem

Yeah, I'm figuring it all out as I go. This is my first big block, and the only other V8 I've owned is a 327...it's a bit different. The repair manuals are a lifesaver, and so's the community here.

    TBI 454 idle problem

Yeah, I got the spec from the service manual (which I got through this site).

95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

Ok, this is probably the last update for this one, barring an unforeseen disaster. Parts list...I only replaced the aux hoses. The ones for the front heater looked almost new, they can't be more than a couple of years old. So I only went from the splitter in the engine bay to the rear of the...

    WIPER FLUID WON'T PUMP

Chances are he just bumped the connections together. If that's the case, his problem will be back in a few days, just like mine was. A new board is like $20.

95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

Ok, I'm figuring it out. First off, these quick connects are not the same as what all the videos and images are from later trucks...they're the pinch style, not the spreader style. So I wasted a truly stupid amount of time because I didn't take the time to get a good look before diving in...

95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

I don't think any of the connections are going to give up easily. I marred the hell out of the tool because I had to take a hammer to knock the damn thing off, and I still ended up breaking the plastic connector worse than it already was (I couldn't make any progress on the rear hoses, so I...

95 Suburban rear heater hose questions

GM stopped making these 15 years ago, and I'm not thrilled by buying a special, single-task tool that I'll never use again. Unless somebody has a source for these hoses, I don't have many options. But I'm still not sure what that connection is...it's not like the others with the quick disconnects.
