Very good description. After well over 35 years of drag racing, I couldn’t have said it better without writing a novel. The science of torque converters can be complex and I suggest that if a person finds a company that can build one to your satisfaction, stick with them.
I agree. I just wanted to bring this website to everybody’s attention so it can be discussed beforehand. After looking it over I’ve become suspicious. Anybody have 1st hand experience?
Unfortunately mine doesn’t have a block heater. I guess it’s because I live in the south. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one except in a diesel. However I have noticed it being louder in cold weather and I have heard of it happening in other trucks like ours. Thanks for the reply.
I’ll try removing the belt. I didn’t think about that. I’m leaning toward a bad lifter even though the sound seems deeper. I built the transmission and checked the flex plate and its all good. Thanks.

I forgot
to say that I have shorty headers, stainless. Not as good as long tubes but better than stock. Good thoughts about exhaust. I can tune the ecm since I have HPTuners and have used it a few times. Thanks.
Thank you for the excellent advice. My heads are already done by a good friend that does circle track heads. He did all the checking and put in new guides, valves, studs, springs and guide plates. The heads were proven from another engine I ran before. I don’t have money for parts to do the...
