    I’ve been offered a 6.5 swapped 88k 2500 for a cheap price, should I buy it?

Meanwhile im over here with less than 5K total investment in any one of my 6.5Ls and id trust almost all of them to california tomorrrow. Most expensive initial investment has been $2500. 6.5Ls are like 4.3Ls. Buy one with an automatic, and you'll hate it. Dump money into trying to make it...

98 454 lean and fuel pressure

make sure purge solenoid is working and you arent developing alot of vacuum in the fuel tank, that would make the pump work harder.

    Evap solenoid replacement

It was a year thing, I think 96-97 had the double solenoids and the old school charcoal canister and either 98 or 99 went to the new style. Im going to be changing mine in the cold as well on my 97, as it seems to work at idle but will develop horrendous vacuum at road speed. actually imploded...

    Vortec 454 Oil Recommendations

alot of 454s on irrigation wells run 15w40 diesel oil. In a gas pickup application I like running 10w30

    NV4500 gear lube change suggestions

also has to be a full synthetic fairly heavy oil to tolerate the gear and bearing load. Synchromesh is good enough for the synchros, but the bearing and gear load is the other half of the needs of the NV4500, so the 12346190 (or redline or amsoil equivalent) is about the only one that can meet both.

    Arteb Headlights / Taillights End-of-Life (?)

reading more, are the Arteb headlight mounts included with purchase? I see there was fitment issues with the stock brackets.

    Arteb Headlights / Taillights End-of-Life (?)

So i must live under a rock, I just found out about these, and I am interested! (admittedly I dont frequent gmt400.com much, lol) So these are plug and play, no adapting necessary for stock harness and light sockets, correct? I dont like hacking up harnesses if I dont have to, but would love...

    GCWR -Suburban

DOT doesnt pay attention to "tow ratings" (aka GCWR) because acceleration is a factor in their ratings, Identical chassis, brake system, and axle ratio will have different ratings because a certain engine option will accelerate faster. you cant tell me a 454 is somehow safer with 2K Lbs more...

Decent affordable recommendations on brake control? For Towing anything from a few snowmobiles / quads to a Small car trailer

check the website but pretty sure the voyager is at least proportional, Im afraid the sentinel is timer based. Me personally I tow pretty heavy and really like the Tekonsha prodigy P3. i have about 5 of the units scattered across the fleet. it has a removable plug on the back so you can share...

What and how many miles a year do you tow with your Gmt400?

All the time with my old girls, the 95 K2500 odometer was at 471,*** to finish this year, did 4 trips to California, plus a handful of regional hauls. Ill have to go back in the fuel log to see what odometer was at the beginning of the year, I know its gotta be at least 10K miles. All of them...

Best manual transmission for 350 small block

Where did you find that if you dont mind me asking? 2 or 4wd? Thanks!

What year was the nv3500 stick mostly found in the 95-99 OBS trucks ? 96-97? 4.3 or 5.7 trucks

look for a later one, pretty sure they followed the NV4500's switch to internal slave cylinder in 1996. While harder to change, there is less to go wrong than the 95 and older with a fork and pivot ball. Shift boot and tower changed for the GMT800, so you are preferably looking for a 96-98...

    3 spd manual to automatic

id much rather have the 4.3L and SM465 (im assuming thats what you are calling a 3 speed manual) than a 350 and an automatic. The automatic will be way less reliable, 350 is going to suck gas and still be slow, the 4.3L is slow but good on gas. plus the weight distribution is better with the V6...
