Part # for axle shaft seal on the knuckle?

Hello all. I’m having a hell of a time trying to find this part. It’s the seal that press fits into the back of the steering knuckle and the CV goes through it. This is for a 1998 Tahoe 2dr 4x4. I.D. Is about 3.1” and O.D. Where it presses in is about 3.5”. Thank you.

    Ain't nothing simple.

I know this is old but do you happen to have the part number of this seal? I’m redoing all of the suspension and steering on my 97 2 door Tahoe 4x4 and can’t find these seals to save my life. The ones that attach to the inside of the knuckle that have an I.D. Of about 3.1” and and O.D. Of about...

Left front axle seal replacement. Do I need to drop the diff?

Thanks for the info. I’ll definitely check that first!

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

I just wanted to update this. I’m pretty sure i’m An idiot and it was the heater hose fitting leaking. It was leaking at the base just enough to run down the back of the head and not be noticeable until it was dripping down the back of the head. That was a terrible lesson to learn in both time...

Left front axle seal replacement. Do I need to drop the diff?

1998 2 door Tahoe. This seems like a pretty straightforward fix but before I start, do I need to lower the diff because if so i’ll Wait until this weekend? The driver’s side front diff output shaft sure is close to the frame rail and it looks like it might hit it before it pulls out. Will it...

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

Fair question and it’s definately not that. I’ve been down that road and have a brass barb fitting in place of that terrible stock push fitting. It’s definitely leaking from the back of the gasket.

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

Ok, I put my phone on the back of my engine and turned it on to see if I could see where the coolant was leaking from. It’s definitely coming from higher up as it is leaking from behind where the bracket is. I did confirm that those bolt holes are blind and do not go through to a water jacket so...

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

I used Permatex #2 on the original bolts the first time I did the job. The 2nd time I used new Fel-Pro bolts that came pre-loaded with a thread locker/sealant.

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

Yup, i’m Definitely doing the thin RTV layer next time. I’ll try the Right Stuff next time as well. I’m out of black so it’s perfect timing

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

My plan later tonight is to put my phone back there and take a short video to see where it is leaking from exactly. I’ll let you know what I find. I wish fel-proJUST sold the intake gaskets instead of the whole set. I have a bunch of extra gaskets now And they aren’t cheap. Thanks

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

East302: now that I look closer at your diagrams I definetly didn’t extend the China wall RTV 13mm up the gasket. Probably 5mm or so. I wonder if that’s the issue. EDIT: i’m Going to try it one more time and extend the RTV up higher and i’m Also going to put a very thin layer around the head...

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

I started it a few hours after installing everything for a few minutes to time it (to adjust the cmp timing to +/- 2°) Then I waited probably 18 hours before allowing it to heat up quite a bit. I’ve never had a problem in the past with starting small blocks not too long after sealing an intake...

I can’t get my vortec 350 intake to seal (water leak)

Hello. All good questions. 1) I did RTV the corners prior to putting the gaskets on and did run a bead across the top of the valley like in your photos. Permatex Black is my go to. 2) I did torque to spec using my 1/4 drive torque wrench in the correct sequence. 3) the photo is exaggerated...
