    '96 Yukon 4WD - 4L60E issues at 275K.

"Dropping a pan is part of diagnosis." :D Thanks. Car is fine 99.99% of the time. Everyone knows 275 is past due. Everyone knows my tranny is on the way out. Options: 1 - do not drop pan, get lucky, find a broken wire, fix it, keep going. 2 - do not drop pan, keep going. 3 - drop pan, pan is...

    '96 Yukon 4WD - 4L60E issues at 275K.

Also, BLK ground and BLK/YEL signal from PCM to TFT. I'll check that. An intermittent short there would explain why TFT works today but didn't work yesterday when the shudder occurred. I'm trying to get lucky here. :D Open to ideas and suggestions. Thanks.

    '96 Yukon 4WD - 4L60E issues at 275K.

Update: 60 miles today, 50 hwy, 10 town. No shudder, totally normal, no codes. Dash Command TFT went from 8° ambient to 82° C. I guess my friend's scan tool isn't perfect with '96 OBD2. I will check the brake switch and PCM-TCC wires just to be sure. I was hoping to find some small things...

    '96 Yukon 4WD - 4L60E issues at 275K.

@NickTransmissions and everybody else... I'm Dave, the original owner. I do all the service. It's a daily driver. The transmission is 100% factory. Mountain life, 15 miles of curvy state highway, gentle grades, not on cruise control. 60mph in the straights, 35mph in the curves. A few weeks...

    Trans Temperature gauge

Thanks! A friend in town connected a scantool to my Yukon yesterday, the only odd thing he saw was -38° trans fluid temp. I need to plan a job to drop the pan and have a look at things. Does anyone know the name of the sensor plate that has the temperature sensor on it?

    Trans Temperature gauge

Hey Caman, how do you do this? I have a '96 5.7 4wd 4L60E. I have Dash Command on my phone. It works with my blue plastic OBDII gizmo. I have used it to set CKP Cam retard. But I don't see transmission temp as an available PID. Got any tips? Thanks!

Buzzing vibration under gas pedal in 3rd gear ...

1996 Yukon 4WD - original owner - 264,000 - original tranny. Well maintained. Tranny flush every 60K, fluid is bright. I'm feeling a mild grinding buzzing vibration "under" the gas pedal when accelerating gently in 3rd gear. It's a 55mph state highway with many curves and some climbs, speed...

    243 transfer case questions

Thanks for the reply. The truck was level. I'll keep an eye on it, but for now, it seems like my transfer case was filled way above the fill-plug level. I'm not even sure how a person could accomplish that. How would you do it? How could you fill a transfer case so high that fluid comes...

    243 transfer case questions

1996 Yukon 4WD 5.7l with NP243C transfer case. I removed the driveshaft to change u-joints. While I was working, about 3/4 quart of ATF dripped out of the transfer case. I reinstalled the driveshaft. Then I removed the 30mm top fill plug on the transfer case, to top off the transfer case...

Hard to start - hunting & stumbling - only when cold.

Two days later: 1 - don't add FI cleaner into the previously described port on the throttle-body cap that receives the hose from the passenger side valve cover. Here's why: I put 4oz of seafoam into that port on Wednesday, as described above (bottle with hose). Thursday I found about 1oz...

Hard to start - hunting & stumbling - only when cold.

Spoke to the local dealer, twice. Pleasantly surprised by the willingness to help and also the on-tap knowledge of 5.7 vortec trucks. For posterity: A - my prob is a rough cold start, only on cold mornings. It fires right away, but it hunts and stumbles until it finds itself, then no problems...

Hard to start - hunting & stumbling - only when cold.

Thanks for the reply. Years ago I modified the wiring under the underhood fuse box: I connected the fuel pump relay to pink. If the key is on, the fuel pump is running. The low last night was 40°. Cold battery voltage - 12.55. Cold fuel pressure this AM: 60 key on, 53 running, 49 off...

Hard to start - hunting & stumbling - only when cold.

1996 5.7 Vortec Yukon 4WD, 245K original miles. Doesn't want to start when cold (if it sits out overnight, 50° or colder temps). I'm the original owner. We weren't using it much, then we totalled the other car. So I bought parts and did some preventive maintenance to make it reliable: New...
