    So.... Was watching a video from 1AAuto on doing the ignition switch, and discovered an interesting comment. They literally listed all the issues I've been having intermittently with this truck over the 8 or 9 months that I drove her before she died on me a year ago.

    The PRNDL lights up and correctly indicates gear positions when I slightly turn the key, but not in the run position.

    There is nothing once it moves to the run position or the start position. It acts like a dead neutral safety switch. I completely lose the PRNDL as soon as I turn the key to run. All the other gauges seem to work just fine. But once the PRNDL drops, it won't send power to the starter.

    Could it be the ignition switch? Wiring that runs down the column?

    Literally everything else works. It just won't start. Battery cables are good, starter cables are good, I just lose the PRNDL when it's in the "run" position. PRNDL fuse is good. Starter relay is good. Has a brand new starter on it.

    Still dunno what you're referring to. Is it under the plastic cover for the column?

    If I turn the key almost to run, the PRNDL lights up, and when I move the shift lever, it tracks properly at each gear detent. It's only whenever I actually turn it to run that the PRNDL goes out completely.

    I suspected a bad neutral safety switch, after I suffered issues with PRNDL function, but if I jiggled the shift lever, it would start. Then the PRNDL flickered, as well as the ABS and brake lights on the cluster, then went out. Then I discovered severely degraded wiring insulation on the plugs...

    So, been a LONG while since I updated this thread. Today, I had a fairly short shift at work that let me off during daylight, rather than a closing shift. I finally got under the truck and faced my fears of wiring. Got both plugs on the neutral safety switch rewired, one single wire at a time...

    If it has a 454 and a red interior, I'm pretty sure it was for sale no more than an hour from me last year, in the southern Ft Worth area. It was listed for like $12k then.
