88-91 speedometers are driven by a speed sensor…no gears to change…i would search the site for “ Recalibrating 1988-1991 speedometer/dash cluster “ …. Written by someotherguy…. If you know what your rear end ratio … you could reprogram to the closest tire size in height..315-35-17 are...
Bent pushrods are usually what happens when the head of the valve contacts the piston....severe rocker arm mechanical bind can jack the rocker stud out of the head...at this point your next step would be to buy or fabricate an adapter that allows you to pressurize each cylinder thru the spark...
This is a “all stop” situation....you must verify that the new cam is installed correctly ..that the timing marks are in proper alignment....usually bent pushrods = bent valves..inspect rocker studs for signs of mechanical bind..do a leak down type compression test with all the rocker arms...
Theres no moving parts in the speed sensor nor does it come in direct contact with any rotating parts.... it generates a voltage signal by having a tone wheel rotate past it, which the DRAC processes to drive the speedometer..cruise control..RWAL system..and input a signal to the vehicle ECM for...
Put the pan on... then put a jack under it and remove the transmission from your truck...those rollers either support a shaft or absorb thrust....its not gonna go 5 miles before turning into a mess ..you have a pan full of catastrophic failure .... rebuild or replace ....
Too many mismatched parts....mechanical speedometer drive gear...electronic speed sensor.... no sleeve on output shaft... vented yoke......if your gonna have a speedometer..gotta install the correct speed sensor rotor on output shaft....if not going to install the sleeve and o-ring assembly...
Here goes.... the sleeve with the o-ring is a tight fit to the output shaft...when the yoke is installed ..it fits into the sleeve and seals off any trans fluid from getting onto the splines and working out thru the vent hole.... the sleeve is long enough so that in regular driveshaft...
The yoke is the problem, the hole should not be there... its actually a machining plug...its only made of tin..its either rotten or the yoke bottomed on the output shaft of transmission and made the hole.....replace the yoke...
Sounds like its starting off in 2nd gear.....manual shift it out of 1st..see if truck preforms normal....didn’t see any mention of check engine light....
