Typical loose steering
I had loose steering on my '96 K1500. Fixed the normal stuff, (pitman arm replacement, etc.), then I looked over that Rag Joint. Soft; worn. Replaced it with a Cunningham REAL U-Joint half shaft and the whole thing is like new now. The Cunningham was the best thing I did. Not sure if you...- DennisT

'96 K1500: how can I tell fuel tank capacity by physical dimensions?
My 1996 K1500 has a 6-foot box. Somewhere I thought I read that box size limited fuel tank size to the smaller tanks, (were they around 20 gallons??) Is there a way to crawl under and measure tank size and verify capacity? I would think it would be easy to visually tell the difference...- DennisT

Continuing to improve my high mileage '96 GMC K1500, my seats are the cloth 60/40's with non-working electric lumbar. I don't care much about the lumbar, however, being older and having some back trouble, a full power seat would be appreciated by me and especially my spine. Not easy to find...- DennisT

Thank you. Derek: It sounds like you only go in and out of 4WD when standing still. Doing it that way, do you get any gear bumping or teeth clashing at all? Schurkey, the linkage lube is a good tip. Thanks. I'll be curious if any others chime in on this.......- DennisT

1996 GM 1500 power mirror fuse location: can anyone confirm?

1996 GM 1500 power mirror fuse location: can anyone confirm?
That's about it. My power mirrors stopped working on my 1996 K1500. All fuses are good in the fuse box at the left end of the dashboard. I see no fuses underhood that appear to deal with power mirrors. Anyone know if there is ONE Specific fuse for these? It must be listed under some...- DennisT

1996 GM 1500 under-hood fuse block? Is their a tutorial for how to remove those pesky fuse connectors???
Here are photos. I just want to unplug all the now useless connectors and their severed pigtails and have a fuse block I can build the way I want it. I have, indeed, tried multiple methods of, "poking," pins, icepick tips, etc., in to try to unlock the now unwanted connectors. Have yet to...- DennisT
