I let my 01 go last spring for $1k, ran like an absolute dream, I bought it new ran it till the frame was so rotten it was not funny. Had I known I was gonna find my 98 RCSB, I woulda kept it for the powertrain. Big issue up here is there are little to no 2wd Trannys...finding a 2wd 4L80 is...

Not so sure...I get what your saying, but IMHO its because of "Wants" not "NEEDS"... and again, probably depends on your area...here in New England I can have my choice of complete running rotted out trucks for $600-1k. Honestly I cant see why you couldn't do a complete LS Drop in for less then...

Hood Insulation

Cripe, the INTAKES on NBS trucks are plastic...not to mention the whole topside, numerous trim pieces & parts...not saying its the SAME plastic, but just because its plastic I wouldn't write it totally off... Personally I love the looks of that ABS unit...I'd buy one now if I was sure I wasn't...

2/4 or 3/4 Drop Kit, what size tires for Rally 15"s?

Thanks...makes sense...So the moral of the story is stick with a Belltech Spindle and life is good. track width isnt too big a deal for me, My research indicates I'll be needing 1-3/4" +/- Spacers/Adapters to get those wheels on to begin with so wider track really just means thinner adapter for...

2/4 or 3/4 Drop Kit, what size tires for Rally 15"s?

Timely thread...been debating much the same myself (C5 Vette Wheels Planned for mine)...one thing I'm not seing discussed here are the drop Control arms like whats available with the DJM Kits.. In relation to rubbing issues...why would we want a spindle vs the Control arm?

I've heard nothing but good things about the SPI Epoxy as well.. I've got a business/account with the PPG Supplier here, so my price on PPG Stuff tilts the deck in that favor...if I were to Blast & "Liquid Paint" it, It would be with PPG Epoxy....not that I wouldnt use SPI...just too easy to get...

LOL...quite the opposite...I went to the coaters to drop off some stuff for work and originally asked them for a quote on just blasting the frame so I could work on it, and Epoxy Prime/Paint it myself once I was done...THEY were the ones convincing me to go Powder which got me to thinking as its...

IMHO Thats really only true for "OEM" and "Crappy Aftermarket" Powder Jobs...all the Professional jobs I've had done are WAYYYY more durable then the original finishes. For example...I had a Fisher plow Re-Powder Coated...the factory finish came off in sheets, like you said, rust got underneath...

Bargain Brand or Name brand?

Depends on the application... -Delvac in my DMax, Whatever Brand Name Oil is on sale in the gassers, JD Plus50II Syn in my Equipment. IMHO I think changing your oil at a reasonable level is more important then the brand. I believe in a 3k OCI. Ran my 240k mile 5.3 Oil thru Blackstone once and...

Frame Refinishing - Paint or Powder

So after some debate, I've decided to do a frame off "Restifcation" to my 98 RCSB...Gonna start with the foundation so blasting and refinishing the frame is where I'm gonna start. Got some quotes and now I'm torn between Painting the Frame or Powdercoating the frame.... Cost is the same either...

When you say "Very Good Used one"...whats wrong with yours? I was under the impression you could polish them up with one of those headlight restoration kits and have a "Just like new" one.. Id sell you mine if I were closer to that phase..

Nbs bumper 14+ on OBS

Narrowing is the easy part...I'm debating cutting 1" out of my stock front bumper when I get to that point. I'd really be tempted to try the 14+ rear, but I dont think the step ends would look good on a OBS...If they made a "Smooth Ended" Version...I'd be all over it.
