    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

A couple of days ago - got it back together - have yet to drive around yard. That's why the delay writing here. Figured I'd have done by now. [ADJUSTMENT GEAR/BOLT] Turns out even though there's some reversal of parts between driver's side and passenger side the adjustment gears go the same way...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

-- SUPER INTERESTING THAT -- going out to put drums on after taking little videos shortly. 1) don't think i'd be taking those adjuster off anytime soon. i recall real hard to gett'em in place. could be mistaken however - AND/OR may be easier now that all brake parts have been running for a few...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

went out and impressed myself by hacksawing thru the 3" long metal bit that joins the front cable to the rear portion. what i lack in tools, and tips and tricks smarts, i made up for in pig-headed stay-with-it-ness. took a long time (i boast!-) after trying to put some wood behind the joiner...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

NOTE: "GoToGuy" in post #6 mentioned rack and pawl - and going off the rail. That's gotta be it (?) - and worst case i reckon. (unless i find out something about front cable that surprises me - can't see how though as it's loose enough) there's tons of black heat ducting (with cable/mechanisms...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

Scooterwrench! -- so, i guess it's possible it's the front cable - though pushing on the cable (pix above where i push with blue pry-bar) -- pressing as it leave the parking brake pedal assembly gives all movements and sound that say to me not the cable - going out now to do sanity check. YES...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

GM PARTS GIANT (catalog) the other one there's not at all right - though looks WAY easier to fiddle with. SO, as there's seemingly insurmountable, immovable heating ducts in the way - gonna continue to attempt to get lucky. Figure unhook battery and go deeper trying to get around up top with...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

UPDATE: pix above confirmed accurate i believe. I'd bet what's happening is that EITHER the gear's run off the end of travel from me pushing it WAY down OR whatever stops the sprocket from traveling until the release cable is pulled ain't moving to allow release. NOTE: cable release appears to...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

SOME DAYS LATER (heh-heh) well, if anyone had told me that: -- parking the truck during Christmas on a wee bit of a slope -- and therefore pushing the already sticky parking brake pedal full-down -- would have me truck-less for around 3 months I'd have said: YEP, sounds like ME. 1) Found...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

Had some dental surgery now over and I'm now clearer somewhat THANKS My above post's not really clear and/or way too rambley SORRY 1) Can anyone comment on the adjustment gears. Can i loosen both gears from both sides and still have regular "service" brakes? REAR (?) as i expect the...

SUPER APPRECIATED - gotta sleep soon as up early - quick one - back tomorow brake cables only a year old - though yeah, didn't lubricate them - oh, wrong, the front portion is NOT new though in the pix with the blue pry-bar when i push on the cable no prob getting that good feeling it's all...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

Showing adjustment gear all the way IN of driver's side and a lotta the way out on passenger's side. it will be interesting to see if I can find something close to a sweet spot where i can get the drums back on, and with the passenger side parking brake cable totally disconnected as per pix...

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

I noticed double clicking on one pix brings up a slide-show which is great. I'll figure out why my final 3 pix here lay out way better i think. Though yeah, I'm happy to know that double-clicking a pix makes all my lack of skill at uploading go away kinda - hahaha

    PARKING BRAKE pedal won't release (not the cable) - trick to disengage? (1994 - 2500 - 2wd)

SHORT-VERSION: hope everyone's having a great enough time in and out there. NOTE: two sets of pix after this 1) I figure the brake pedal was mashed to the truck floor and is either stuck OR run just off the last gear/sprocket, if as I suppose, that possible. (recalling helpful comment above)...
