I finally figured out what was wrong with my truck. After lots of trouble shooting and inspecting wiring harnesses, plugs etc. I acquired the use of a spare truck that I knew the 4x4 worked correctly and took off the encoder motor, TCCM, and front diff actuator to swap out on my truck one by one...
Seeing how 97 & 98 are the same truck with the exception of pass lock would you mind to let me know where in your manual I can find the diagram for the 4x4 wiring and dash wiring if you get the free time please. I’m still learning to navigate thru the online manuals on here but they’re not in...
Would you happen to know where in the service manuals I can find the wiring diagrams at? There’s so much to search thru and I’m having a hard time finding exactly where to look.
What’s odd is with the key off the ground pins and battery + pins have continuity between them, but with the key on they don’t. And all is normal as it should with battery + wires being hot and the grounds are negative. Soon as I turn the key off all of them share continuity. All wiring...
I also unplugged both plugs on the park/neutral switch to eliminate it also incase any circuits went to it as well. I can’t wrap my head around how I can be on a ground on one end of the rest and a positive on the other end and there’s continuity between the two. It doesn’t make sense.
Yes, the TCCM is unplugged and the push button switch is unplugged. That’s where im checking each end at, I even unplugged the plug by the brake booster going to the harness under the truck to eliminate any of that incase it was running to it also
So I’ve been digging deep into this truck trying to fix it. I pulled the transfer case wire harness out from under the truck to physically check every wire and re loom it since it was all crispy and falling off. Everything was good on the harness. While it was out I did a continuity test on each...
Ok thanks you, that’s very good info to have. I’m going to pull the T case and trans harness out completely and check it from one end to the other and put new loom on it while it’s out and then I’ll either find the prob or rule out that issue and dig deeper into the t case itself.
Ok thank you, all I could find was 88-95 service manuals that someone put together and shared on here but mine is a 98. I’ll go check out what you just shared. Thanks again I appreciate the help
Thank you! I’m new to posting and using the forum so I’m trying to figure out how to navigate thru it to find all the diagrams, info and everything else. I’m going to start reading everything I can. Thanks again for the help!
I checked all the wiring first to see if it was damaged anywhere. I also did some trouble shooting by checking to make sure I have power and ground in all of the places it needs to be on the pin outs. Everything checked out on that so I started to change parts one at a time. All of the parts...
