    Need ID For Unplugged Connector

Yeah PARAGON, I think that's it. I looked at another under-the-hood photo, and I see where the clip is that the connector would ground out too. Mine is chipped off, and has nothing attached to it, and it seems like the ground wire was tucked under the wiper cowl. Anyway, thank you very much for...

    Need ID For Unplugged Connector

Hey guys, on my '99 Suburban, I'm trying to identify a connector I found a few months ago that was just hanging out without being plugged into anything. The connector is black, with just one orange wire going into the back of it, and it splits off from the area where the IAT and MAF sensors...

Is There A Process To Properly Replicating Factory Paint?

Thank you very much. I'm not trying to go crazy at the moment, just trying to make the vehicle look less sh*tty, and to get rid of any rust spots. I actually hope to change the color completely in the future.

Is There A Process To Properly Replicating Factory Paint?

I was hoping to touch up some spots on my Suburban where the paint has peeled off to the point of the underlying metal being exposed. I was just wondering if there was a way to properly replicate the factory process they used back then to paint the vehicles. Like how many coats of paint did they...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

And here's a picture of my Suburban, while it was still dead:

And that's exactly what happened. Thankfully one of the spare fuses in the box already was a small 20 amp fuse. And now it's running again. Looks like it was at least the distributor rotor, but of course I replaced the cap as well. Thanks again for everyone's help!

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

Ok, and can that be caused by plugging the connectors back in while the truck was in the "key on" position? Did I possibly cause a shock to that pink wire?

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

I just wanted to check the ignition coil and ICM, and the corresponding connectors, just to rule them out. And I figured that the same, or similar, reading as the battery voltage would be what to look for. Now I have a near-zero voltage, as I mentioned yesterday.

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

Continuing off my previous post, I did another check on the connectors to both the coil and the ICM. I was getting a reading of 0.192 volts from the pink wire on the 4-way connector to the ICM with "key on". Then I did a check of the positive terminal of the battery itself to the ground on the...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

Alright, so I got the distributor cap and rotor, but I forgot to charge the battery again, so I couldn't start it properly anyway. However, I may have messed up something else; I just wanted to check battery voltage from the harness connectors that go to the coil and the ICM. I checked them, and...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

I ordered the United Motors premium cap and rotor from Rock Auto last night, so I'll let you guys know what happens when I install it. Thanks again for your help!

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

My thought was to just get the regular AC Delco cap and rotor, probably from Rock Auto, but if a cap with brass terminals is actually better than the AC Delco, then I will do that. I saw other threads about having no spark, and I saw people say either go with the AC Delco or a cap with brass...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

Over the week I took a look at the ignition system, and so far I went through the spark plugs, wires, and the distributor cap and rotor. I replaced the spark plugs, since they were worn anyway, and I did a resistance test on each of the wires, with all of them being within 9-11 ohms on the long...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

Ok, thanks for telling me that about the fuel pressure. Wasn't entirely sure what to take from the readings, and I didn't know how quick the pressure would fall if there was a leak at all. I do have an inline spark tester, so I will check spark next. I wanted to make sure I can rule out fuel...

Engine Died On Increased Throttle, Can Only Crank-No-Start In ‘99 Suburban 5.7L

So I did a fuel pressure test on Sunday, and these were the results I got, both key on, engine off, and then engine on. I tried to upload the videos I took, but it says they are too large for the server to upload. Anyway: With key on, engine off, the pressure went to 62 PSI, and then...
