    They were inconsistent with the 9.5, you could have got it in anything. There was two or three different sizes of drum brakes too.

    Timing chain? I had misfire and hard start problems. I replaced all the usual tune up items, sensors, ignition parts, etc, with no luck. It ended up being a loose timing chain.

    If it's a 6 lug it got the smaller diff, if its 8 lug it got the bigger diff. 1500/2500 doesn't matter.

    3.73 is a very common ratio in these trucks, I doubt finding one would be harder than swapping a diff from a completely different truck.

    I have not heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me. They consider it a California vehicle if it spends the "majority" if it's time in CA, or if you as they owner file CA taxes or anything like that. Either way he'd still be a CA resident since he actually lives there. I once looked into it...

    Now they will fail you for having any kind of tune on your truck. Before I moved out of CA I was planning on buying a second computer to tune and swap my stock one back in for smog but I ended up moving before that could happen.

    It's really not that bad. I've done it before. Just cut/drill the head off then punch it out with an air hammer. That air hammer will be worth it's weight in gold if you want to keep doing front end work on your truck. The one I have is $50 at home depot. What's your time worth?

    Worth with 3 inch lift kit?

    I have a shackle flip on my truck, it's great not having a block but it puts the pinion at a weird angle and it's hard to get it back to where it should be.
