Score, found a set of stock LS1 valve covers I had powder coated for my WS6 that I forgot about. They have been out in my shed the past 3+yrs, they still look good as the day I got them done. I’ll slap these in with a billet coil bracket when I do the plugs/wires. I know there is a PCV...- big_mike

Well......bought a new truck
Well, got the cluster back. The guy didn’t have the color LEDs I wanted in stock and I wasn’t willing to wait so I only had him fix the cluster with a full rebuild with new incandescent bulbs for now, only cost me $100 and was done in 3hrs. Was not the source of my electrical issue though...- big_mike

Yea, it was a jump seat truck it seems but I already built me a temporary console out of MDF to get me by for a minute. I found a seller on eBay that has consoles for like $85 shipped so hopefully I’ll be ordering one in the next couple weeks. Also went ahead and built me a under seat...- big_mike

Not my first LS motor. I had a H/C/I 99’ WS6 I built myself. I got plans for this but it’ll be in due time. Lol, my best guess from it’s condition was daddy owned the truck and that’s where the driver side stickers came from, then handed it down to son until graduation and that’s where passenger side stickers came from, lol. Body Mount Replacement Questions
I’m sure you could find a grade 8 bolt to replace it with at a local Fastenal faster and probably cheaper than LMC, I’d only use them for parts you can’t find at a salvage, real hard to find stuff ya know. But if you need the big doughnut washer then I could see just ordering both from them too.- big_mike

Fluids for new GM L31
I run Castrol GTX 10w30 year round here in Oklahoma, does just fine. I also ditch dexcool any chance I get, don’t care what anyone says, that coolant is nasty so I always switch to the older green coolant. I have had several dexcool issues on more than one GM vehicle.- big_mike

Mufflers - choices choices......
Have you tried the Thrush welded mufflers, they are very affordable and honestly I think have a better sound than Flowmaster or Magnaflow on these truck IMO.- big_mike

Not always a true statement. I have seen some high mileage engines ran their whole life on conventional only to develope leaks after the switch due to the viscosity differences between the oils. My rule of thumb is to use whatever was originally run in the motor. If it came with conventional use...- big_mike

Here is my point of view. You can damn near rebuild these entire trucks for less than you can buy a used truck with less 100k miles on the clock. That’s why I’m personally opting to go thru my entire truck and stick a new crate motor with 3yr 100k mile GM warranty. I can maintain this truck...- big_mike

Front end overhaul
Not messing with those, replacing the entire arms with new bushings/ball joint installed. Wish I could do the same with lowers but no new units are available.- big_mike
