Baer Brakes again.

That was my next step, but needed to change the knuckles. Believe me, the truck stops so much better with the Baer brakes, but this aspect has driven me nuts. Baer did offer to turn down the spindles if I could not get it done locally. Their customer service department has been great.

We examined the old bearing for numbers, none. I took them to a really nice machine shop in Blue Ridge, GA today. Chad had the new Timken hub sets turned down to Baer specs in no time. What a nightmare this has been, but seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. I will put the new hub sets...

Answered my own question, and maybe I can help others. The unit is sold as a unit and Timken does not provide part numbers to do a rebuild. Seems like nobody does. My only option is to have the new spindle turned down on a lathe to the correct diameter to accommodate the Baer rotor. Don't buy...

I have a unique situation, my 1998 K1500 Suburban is equipped with Baer brakes, rotors and calipers. The spindle in the front hub is 12 mm smaller than stock. So the bearing in one is going. I have a new Timken hub ready to go in but have to pull the spindle out of the old one and put it into...

Well I am happy to report that it was the cap and rotor. I replaced them this morning and it cranked right up. The cap had a bracket that you had to put under the distributor, then run the cap screws into this bracket. That is why they were longer on one side. That was a pain in the rear to...

New to me 99 K1500

Here is a picture of the inside of the distributor cap and rotor as well as the weird screws used to put it on. There is a ring of liquid around the inside of the cap. Corrosion on the rotor.

While waiting for the tow truck, I ran the my scanner and there were no codes. Not sure on the CPI to MPFI. Was going to do that, but would really like to get it running first. I was baffled when no codes showed up and the CEL never came on either. The fuel pump was replaced about 3 months...

Going to check all the obvious in the am. Wires look new. Fuel pump is running, but have not checked the pressure yet. The filter was very dirty.

It does have a K&N air filter. I know these can foul the air flow sensors, as they did in one of my old Mercedes W124's.

Well the white on died on me yesterday. It started normal, as I drove down our hill I noticed it start to miss. It stopped and was running fine for a half mile or so, then it started missing a little again. Finally it started missing and losing power. I was on a dirt road and it would not go...

New to me 99 K1500

Just picked up a 1999 K1500 Suburban LT to compliment my 1998. It's all original down to the radio, but has new tranny and fuel tank as well as pump. Is going to need tires and a front seat bottom cover or two. These are getting harder and harder to find in really good shape. Will be holding...

Baer brakes and hub

Called Baer and found out they pull the spindle out and machine it down so their rotor fits over it. I have to buy new wheel hub bearing kits, pull the spindle and put in the ones currently on my truck. Mystery solved.
