Would this trans be identifiable as likely nv3500

While the nv4500 is much stronger, the nv3500 does what it's intended purpose is just fine. I've owned/driven both for over 10 yrs and both trucks are driven similarly, ie not beat on, but not babied either. I have seen a suburban converted to a nv3500 yrs ago. Guy loved it. As for buying one in...

How do I find out what transmission I have?

I agree it should be the 5LM60, but if you can't read the RPO in the glove box, try this site to decode your vin#. www.vindecoderz.com

Bought a K2500, wrong mileage, needs some work, advice?

From the pic it looks like a very nice truck & is nicely equiped. If the inside is as good as the outside & the engine/trans/rear check out ok, I'd say you've got a pretty good truck. Sucks about being lied to about the mileage, but as others already said, much of the previous repairs are mostly...

Need some advice on a 1995 K1500 potential purchase

Like others said, usually northerners come south to buy vehicles, not the other way around. That said, for a Chicago plow truck, I'd say it doesnt look too bad. That doesnt mean I would buy it though. Being in the south, I would think you could pretty easily find a much better truck to start...

    Grandpa's '94 K1500 Cheyenne

I agree with everyone else, keep it stock and enjoy. If your truck doesn't have skidplates, you might want to add them. They're not too hard to find at the local pull a part. Otherwise just have fun and drive it. Your grandpa bought a keeper for ya!

    Z71 question

Yup, Z71 only gets ya decals, shocks & skidplates. G80 was an option and as far as the gears, GU6 for 3.42 and GT4 for 3.73, I'd say it's about a 50/50 mix. As for the newer Z71s, not sure about what year it started, however now you don't automatically get 4wd when you get a Z71.

    1995 K1500 Paint Rarity

Try this, it's free, doesnt give production #s, but everything else including recalls. https://www.vindecoderz.com/ You can also go to any GM dealer. In the service dept give them your vin# and they can give you a print out of all your RPOs.

Are TBI 350’s just this sluggish?

I've seen lots of original 350 and 305s with 3.42s. Seems almost 50/50 between 3.42 or 3.73 regardless of engine. I'm only speaking of 4wd 1/2 ton and have never seen any other gear for them, though I've heard others say 4.10s were available. Only 4.10 ive seen is in 3/4 or 1 ton.
