    Sound system advice

Yes. Resonant frequency of the drivers. Bigger drivers always play lower at higher db levels given the same input. It’s a law of physics

    Sound system advice

The problem with small drivers is that they have a naturally high resonant frequency. This means they Will not efficiently play low bass unless you have a monster amplifier with lots of equalization. I design home theater systems and learned this a long time ago. One of my systems had a...

All too common LS swap vs unique old school small block

People do LS swaps for a reason. They make sense financially and the rewards for power are there. I wouldn’t worry about what other people think. I would worry about trying to make some thing unique and then hating it later. Just because something as possible does not make it a good idea.

    What's a good vehicle for off-road?

Unfortunately GMT400’s do not make the best rock crawlers or all out trail rigs due to the Front and rear approach angles. Jeeps are popular because The wheels are pushed out towards the front and rear. They have weak drive trains and engines but that can be remedied. Have you ever watched Fab...

    Electric fire under hood

Looks like a great candidate for an LS swap? Tear out all that outdated stuff and start fresh. You could detail the engine bay while you’re at it.

91 Tach Cluster "the holy grail"

Hmmm, I swapped one of these into my 90’ and don’t remember having to move any wires. These gauges are a definite improvement over the ugly “moony” guages. I ran across mine at the local LKQ by chance. Just happened to be there at the right time.

Nice truck! Short bed guy here. They look so much better. Long beds are for farmers and grandpa‘s.

    Lower control arms

I have this lift on my truck and I can tell you the aftermarket keys or the torsion bars have nothing to do with it. You need to use the upper control arms provided by rough country and make sure they are mounted as Close as they can possibly be to the frame. In my case cranking up the torsion...

    Carbureted ls swap

Why did you eliminate the fuel injection? It’s far superior to any crappy carburetor set up.

    Forged Lower Control Arm Bushings

According to rock auto this should be the correct part. You just need to call the parts department at your local Chevrolet dealer to verify. The application I used is a 99’ K3500 which most definitely had the forged control arms.

Rebuilding an engine - what precision instruments to do measurements

From my experience machine shops can do more damage than good and you end up paying for it. If you are a building an all out race engine then go to a good machine shop and get out your checkbook. “ rebuilding“ has a lot of different meanings. I have “ rebuilt“ several LS engines with...

Best diff locks and 6" lift kit

Do you really need a locker for the rear? I personally prefer clutch style posi traction for the rear. An Eaton posi carrier would be a good choice. For the front, A locker would make sense if they are available. With as many GM IFS trucks out there I’m surprised there aren’t more choices for...

    Torque converter recommendations

You have some valid points but the driver needs to be smart enough to avoid those conditions. Tearing up my converter is the least of my worries. It’s a multi clutch Circle D which is capable of wide-open throttle with lock up.

Is there a way to wire up a button to manually turn my converter lockup off?

If your torque converter doesn’t lock up you’re going to build more heat. Not a good idea for a crappy transmission like the 4L60
