    Greetings from Germany...

Hiho, gearbox is missing 3rd gear now, clutch seems to be slipping. I replaced oil and filter as well as the two shift solenoids but this did not help. Found two other components (pressure regulator?) which I will replace this weekend. If this does not help I have to take the car to a garage...

    Additional brake booster

Good idea, I just tried this. Obviously the additional booster is operating the front wheels only. After removing the vacuum line I was no longer able to get the front tires to lock until ABS kicks in. I guess the two lines usually going from master cylinder to the EHCU are for front and rear...

    Greetings from Germany...

Finally was able to replace the pitman arm. Man, what a difference that made! :-) Also replaced lower ball joints, that was easier than I thought. Unfortunately during this work we figured that the seals of the front wheel bearings are toast, too. :-( Put on new tires (Grabber AT2s) yesterday...

    Additional brake booster

I have no idea where the previous owner got the booster from. Just keep in mind that parts are not easily to get here in Europe so I guess they just took what they could find and what fitted in the box.

    Greetings from Germany...

Hi together, I just want to update the status of my Tahoe after I spent some hours working on the car: replaced ignition cables and spark plugs, distributor rotor and cap and air filter cleaned MAF and throttle body fed her some bottles of valve and injection cleaner replaced driver side door...

    What is this?

Perfectly right. This car is surprising me every day. Obviously when bolting on the headers the previous owner or the shop didn't care much about the EGR tube. They just left it out. EGR valve is still there and I bet they did not reprogram ECU for EGR bypass. Anyway, I just closed the tube for...

    Where to attach tow rope?

Even if automatic transmissions are slowly catching up here in Germany, there are still more manual transmissions out there, especially for small cars.

    What is this?

Hi there, here is the German noob with another strange question: while bolting on the new AC compressor I saw this strange piece of pipe coming out of the intake manifold right underneath the back end of the AC compressor. What is this and should there be some piece of tubing attached...

    Where to attach tow rope?

Good point, in Germany it is allowed to tow a car a longer distance. Only exception is on the Autobahn, here you are only allowed to tow a car to the next exit. The second car does not even need working brakes as long as you use a tow bar. Even more astonishing: the driver of the second car does...

    Where to attach tow rope?

Looks good but as I said my car does not have any receiver or hitch. I will check if I can put a shackle into the bumper hole. I guess I may need a giant one, though... Rear axle is also a good idea, could be a dirty job depending on the weather conditions, though. Thanks for the replies!!

    Where to attach tow rope?

No, just for like emergency towing. Maybe towing a car to the next gas station.

    Where to attach tow rope?

Hi guys, I searched for quite some time but did not find any answer so please allow me to ask this (maybe stupid) question: where do I attach a tow rope in the back of my '96 Tahoe without having a hitch? I cannot find any tow hook or similar. I understand that I can use the front hooks to...

    Cannot read engine error codes

I bought a 'new' ECU no eBay and I'm back in the game again. Worked immediately and I can read out data. Waiting for the next Service Engine light now. :-)

    Question about correct front height

Sure, the aiming went down quite a bit. Thanks for the hint! Unfortunately all adjusters of my headlights are stuck, so I will try to aim them a bit higher by using some shims on the mounting brackets. At the end I need new headlights anyway.

    Question about correct front height

I reduced the front height by quite a bit, measures 1 3/4 inch lower than the back now. Gas tank is still at about 80%, will measure again when it becomes empty. Looks quite different, though. IMG_20190712_110415 by aball posted Jul 12, 2019 at 1:26 PM
